5.0 out of 5 stars She's great! Don't miss this album!
Most people don't know her beyond her hit "It's Alright, It's Okay," but this artist has the potential to be as big as Alanis if she ever got any publicity. Her songs are musically inventive, catchy, and topical. My personal favorite is "Porn," a supremely hooky criticism of the way men treat women in relationships, but the rest of the album is also...

3.0 out of 5 stars Exotic sounds
Some adroit and tasteful programming give this CD a gothic resonance to lend credence to the title and the artwork. Unfortunately, it takes the first five six tracks to get the hearth heated up - by track six we've gone from the purely erotic to the exotic, with a interesting mid-tempo "Tighten It Up" (with a small sample from James Brown's "Papa Don't Take No Mess"?), a...

Most people don't know her beyond her hit "It's Alright, It's Okay," but this artist has the potential to be as big as Alanis if she ever got any publicity. Her songs are musically inventive, catchy, and topical. My personal favorite is "Porn," a supremely hooky criticism of the way men treat women in relationships, but the rest of the album is also wonderful. My only complaint is that it's not very long, but that's hardly her fault. Buy this album! I assure you you won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Totally Fresh and Interesting album, June 23, 1999
This review is from: Alchemy (Audio CD)
I bought this album on a whim - I had never heard of Leah before. I am amazingly impressed. This is one of the best albums I've heard in a long time. Her music complex, rich and vibrant. The songs cover a wide varitey of styles while still maintaining a similar element that connects them all together. The whole album has a very gothic sound to it while still being upbeat and funky. I highly recommend this album.

Leah Andreone has been my favorite singer for almost 3 years now. Her songs never get boring, because they are all very unique. She has a great talent for singing, and writing all kinds of different variaties of songs, all of which amaze me!!

5.0 out of 5 stars She's amazing!, June 9, 2008
This review is from: alchemy [Explicit] (MP3 Download)
It's hard to express how much I love this album. It's the #1 choice in my collection for road trips, I can listen to it any time, any place, and don't get tired of the songs. Her range and lyrics are so different, yet all of it flows together wonderfully.
She really is an amazing singer, and it's such a shame that she hasn't gotten noticed the way she deserves.

5.0 out of 5 stars The genius of Leah continues, July 3, 2007
This review is from: Alchemy (Audio CD)
On her second album, Leah branched out in more experimental directions. this album is edgier and less glossy than her first album, Veiled, but that is not a bad thing. While Veiled was about healing, Alchemy (as the name implies) is about experimentation. And her phenominal understanding of the art of songwriting and musical composition are displayed well here. It stands as a testament to the quality of this album that eight years after it was released it is experiencing a resurgence thanks to being featured prominently on So You Think You Can Dance. This album wasn't really advertised at all, and never got radio exposure. Through the power of cult followings, it is finally getting some of the exposure it is due. This album is a gem waiting to be uncovered, and you will not regret purchasing it. I bought it when it came out originally, and I still listen to it regularly, as I do with Veiled too. You will love this album!

3.0 out of 5 stars Exotic sounds, February 12, 2007
This review is from: Alchemy (Audio CD)
Some adroit and tasteful programming give this CD a gothic resonance to lend credence to the title and the artwork. Unfortunately, it takes the first five six tracks to get the hearth heated up - by track six we've gone from the purely erotic to the exotic, with a interesting mid-tempo "Tighten It Up" (with a small sample from James Brown's "Papa Don't Take No Mess"?), a good track. "You Don't Exist" is melodically reminiscent of the Drifters' "On Broadway", lyrically it belongs to today. "Try To Take Your Time" is Top-40 material, as is "Pretty Freak", the first tune heard in which Leah opens up vocally. "Fake" is worth revisiting once in a while. The closer is a much different aural experience - a non-electronic keyboard supports a well-mixed, up-front vocal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant!, November 16, 1998
This review is from: Alchemy (Audio CD)
I have to admit, I may be a bit biased with this review, as Leah is my idol-goddess-favorite singer, but despite all that, this cd is absolutely amazing. Leah uses her remarkable writing skills and combines them with capturing melodies and her beautiful voice. Alchemy has soft songs, hard songs, and songs right in the middle, perfect for all musical tastes. And while you're buying Alchemy, pick up a copy of Leah's 1996 release, Veiled.

5.0 out of 5 stars Leah can do no wrong!, February 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Alchemy (Audio CD)
This album is totally amazing. It is 1000 times better than her first one "Veiled" - and I loved that one! The songs cover various soundscapes, and Leah is an amazingly talented singer and writer - it's a shame RCA isn't getting supporting her the way they have Eve 6 and Natalie Imbruglia. Whoever said the album wasn't long enough - it's about 56 minutes, longer than most CD's I own! Most of the ones I have are about 40-45 minutes long. Anyway, it's a wonderful album, and I hope people start to catch on before it's too late!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not only an excellent artist, but a wonderful person as well, October 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Alchemy (Audio CD)
I had the oppurtunity to meet Leah when I lived in San Diego, before she put out her first album. She actually played a demo tape for me in her car, and I remember wondering if the public had the capacity to appreciate her. I am SO GLAD IT DID! It was incredible. Since then, I've followed her career. I feel lucky to have crossed paths with her! She's got an amazing quality to her voice, and she's very beautiful.
