If Post-structuralism has taught me anything, it is to be wary of numbers. One can easily enumerate Alcian Blue's influences (slowdive, the Jesus & Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Joy Division, early New Order, to name a few.) But this eponymous effort is anything but paint-by-numbers.

While there are many moodier shoegaze influences on this record, there are hints of The Sisters of Mercy and even early Depeche Mode. Dark-gaze anyone?
