I highly recomend this cd.

The guitar playing for the most part is fantastic and the band is super tight throughout the majority of the set.
Jmiller
It is a good live album in that it captures the performance just like a live album should - mistakes and all.

Well, what else is there to say but that it's simply Zakk doing what he does best: peeling the paint off the walls with a guitar! The thing that jumped right out at me is that his guitar is tuned even lower than the studio Black Label Society recordings, which adds even more thickness and darkness to the sound (if that's even possible) and makes it easier for Zakk to sing live. The musicianship is unparalled and the recording is produced very well. The crowd isn't miked (it seems), and you can hear 'em in the background, but the main focal point is left to the music. I am pretty much in awe every time I hear Zakk play, and this is no exception. From start to finish, a CD well worth your money. All I can say to the Society Dwellers is to grab this if you haven't already

NOTE: I am not one for long reviews...
BLS studio albums are plagued with over-production in the bad sense: too many squealing guitars in the background and "sludgey" tones make a wall of noise that seems to hide the respectable song-writing and downright amazing riffs of Zakk Wylde.
This live album is the exception to that rule. The guitars (and everything else) are recorded flawlessly and the result is energetic and downright breath-taking. His 2nd guitarist is capable of doubling his parts making the solos sound huge and unique for a live recording.
I couldn't stop listening to this one when I first got it. After this, 1919 Eternal showed improvement in his production style... I'm looking forward to the new one.
Highly recommended.

I just recently witnessed Zakk Wylde & his BLS live in San Diego. It was a non-stop head banging, scream your lungs out all Metal show. The new CD comes out on April 22nd, and I have all the previous studio CDs of BLS. So, I needed something to hold me over until then.
This album is Metal at its truest capacity. No Holds barred! It rules! This is a man on a mission - to let everyone know that true Metal still exists. He is also letting people know, that Metal needs shredders! And of course Zakk, is one of the true guitar shredders of our time, with a style all his own. (And, might I add, the master of pick harmonics.)
For any one craving a head banging feast, buy this album. Once you hear it, you'll be transported to your favorite arena, viewing Black Label Society, and screaming your lungs out!
(PS - when Zakk comes to your town with BLS - make an extra effort to go see it. Believe me - you won't be disappointed!)
METAL LIVES!!

This live album is my pick for best overall album of 2001! I will first say that I often refer to BLS as the heaviest band I will listen to. Ither than this, I am mainly a fan of Classic Heavy rock, 80s Metal and Prog stuff. However, Zakk has always just been a top notch musician who drew me into whatever he did. I feel his stuff with Ozzy is exceptional. Book Of Shadows was very different and experimental for him, and I dig that. Pride & Glory was also really cool Southern Rock/Metal. Then BLS came along. And at first listen, i knew it was going to be very different than the other music I listened to. And I also knew that it rocked. This Live cd is the third BLS release and definetly the one I listen to most. It is just [ a very good] Live album. You can get a much better rush from this than any of that NU Metal garbage. My fave tune has to be "Bored To Tears". For some reason I caqn just listen to that tune all the time. How about the ultra heavy "Super Terrorizor"? That one blows me away. And anyone who says on live records that "Limp Bizkit [isn't very good]" is on my good list. Zakk's playing is top notch. This is not just heavy music. This is talent behind it. Any band can chug dark chords. That is not what you get with BLS. You get musicianship. Dark and dirty and gritty amazing musicianship. I love the updated keyboardless "No More Tears" I find it superior to the original version. The tunes on here are all solid. The second disc is not live, but still very cool. Although I do not listen to it as much as disc 1. I reccomend this to anyone who digs heavy music brewed on blood, sweat and beers. This band should be the biggest metal band out there today. Maybe someday people will figure it out. Also, the 2 studio albums are must haves. And the entire Zakk Collection is also worth getting so get to it. BLEED BLACK LABEL!!

Let's be honest, we all knew what to expect from this live BLS CD - and boy does it deliver. "....Brewtality" gives us a representative sample of tracks from Sonic Brew and Stronger Than Death in their natural environment - live on stage, warts 'n' all in front of an unruly and boozed up crowd.
Live albums have a propensity to be disappointing - poor sound, average performances etc.(hello Mr. Danzig!), but every once in a while one comes along which really hits the spot. This is one such CD.
It's not that it's the best recorded live album I've ever heard or that the performances are outstanding. What makes this one so damn good is that it is honest, unpretentious and true to itself and you have to like it for that. This is Zakk Wylde and BLS saying "this is us live -sometimes we smoke and sometimes we screw up, but hey, we are always 100%". Basically I would imagine (having not seen them live) that this CD captures the band in the live setting perfectly, even if they themselves are not perfect.
If you liked the studio stuff then check this out - you will warm to it immediately. And really that's what it's all about - sheer bloody minded rock 'n' roll and top class entertainment!
A final word of advice - there's a version of this CD on release which has an extra studio disc with 5 tracks. It consists of two covers (Neil Young + Sabbath) and three originals. It's a mix of electric / acoustic and is not a million miles away from the vibe of Zakk's Book of Shadows CD. It's outstanding. A real 5 star winner. If you can get your hands on this version, do so.
