This is not the 4th (current) edition of this book revised in 2001 or even the 3rd edition, revised in 1976. I think it may be the 2nd. If you want to follow along with your group reading the stories you may want to get an up to date edition. If you just want to get sober this will do!

This is the second edition version. I love having the Big Book on my Kindle, however, the lack of page numbering is frustrating at times - this is a Kindle issue not a book issue.

This is the indispensable basic text book of recovery. The stories in this copy of Alcoholics Anonymous are from the 2nd Edition, and therefore may present some 'new' stories to readers of the 3rd or 4th Edition. What a bonus!

Textbooks are for studying, and it's wonderful to have this indispensable material available for review in a variety of forms. Kindle is just one more way that the message of hope is being carried.

I've been useing this book for over 40 years. This digital form makes it more portable.

It was nice to get the 2nd Edition, but it will be even sweeter to get the 4th Edition! I called the NY Headquarters in January 2011 and they told me eBook versions would be available this summer. Hopefully soon!!

Also, we can see that this 2nd Edition book doesn't have the new Page Numbers feature enabled because it doesn't have the Page Number Source ISBN (like this: Page Numbers Source ISBN: 0345441184). But hopefully this new 4th Edition WILL have the page number feature enabled! I mentioned it to the NY Publishing Headquarters, so cross your fingers!

Ninety-nine cents for the Big Book on my Kindle is nothing to complain about since the first 164 pages is the essential part, but I would like to know up front which edition I'm purchasing. I picked this up to review with a friend of mine. With 17 years active in AA, I am more familiar with the text than your average person, and so I have noticed several typos in this edition. They're relatively minor and do not change the meaning, but they are there. I found them jarring when digging through the text in detail with someone. Overall, it's fine, but it's *NOT* a letter-for-letter reproduction.

Been thumbing through this book for 26 years. Love the way Bill W. wrote this. Has helped millions of people get sober and stay sober. Enough said.
