5.0 out of 5 stars Aldiko Premium October 23, 2013
By willow
Being an avid reader of the Bible and Bible Based publications I wanted an app that allowed me to look up scriptures, highlight and take notes. This worked well for me personally. I enjoy being able to download on my Samsung Galaxy Tablet the Watchtower magazine and other publications from the jw.org website and study them easily and highlight answers for meetings at the Kingdom Hall. The 2.99 is totally worth it. The free version is limited and would be o.k. for just a book reader, but for those who want to STUDY get the premium.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than the alternatives May 23, 2011

It's mostly a matter of personal preference of course, but I prefer Aldiko over the other ebook readers I have tried. This is primarily due to the ease of getting books online. There are so many quality free books available through the built in library, I don't think I will ever run out of reading material. You can also buy books through the built in store. I am also very happy with the appearance of the library, it is very easy to use and works well with Calibre on my PC. Page turns are smooth and the text is very easy to read. If they added a text scrolling feature (in lieu of page turning) this would be a 5 star app no questions. I bought the paid version to support the developer and the Amazon App Store (thanks for all the free apps BTW).
Edited on 1/23/12 I have downgraded Aldiko one star because I found that it totally rearranges my library folder structure. That resulted in my having two copies of every book on my SD card one where it was put by Calibre and one where it was copied by Aldiko. I have found no way to override this behavior. I have since switched to FBreader because it works just as well without messing with my files.

The is a very good epub reader. It has the capability to annotate your book with notes, highlight and underlining. Wish that Amazon would have made it easier to load and use. I know that the epub format is different from the Amazon format and that Amazon wants to protect it sales, etc but the Kindle will be more useful to me if I can use it to access ALL different kinds of formats. Without being able to use this app I would have had to seriously considered upgrading to an iPad or another tablet so could more easily access epub publications. Love my Kindle - its ease of use and its size, so that I'm glad that I was able to load this reader. It also does a good job with PDF files. I especially like it's "Shelf" view - which makes it easy to see what books and files are available on my Kindle.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not working November 7, 2011
Verified Purchase
I decided to purchase the Aldiko to help the programer. This app is down most of the times. I've had to update it twice and still everytime I add new books to the library my reader loses that app connection and I have to do a complete shutdown and restart to be able to connect to it again. I don't lose the connection to the free Aldiko, just to the Premium that I paid for. Not worth the money I spent on it, the free one worked better. What a pity!!!
Edit
After the upgrade to the Aldiko Premium it no longer works on my device. I have contacted the company and they have not been able to fix it. Looking for a new reader app!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well for me. March 27, 2012

Paid for premium version and now run it on phone using Cyanogen and on my ICS Asus transformer. Started with Kindle app but it would not sync all of my books...most but not all. I like to read on multiple devices and so a sync was mandatory. I found Aldiko sync and it works great. So I bought both. No sync and I never would have touched aldiko.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best e-reader app August 5, 2014

The best Android app for e-books. I tried the free version and then bought the paid one because of the extra features: highlighting words, writing notes. It arranges all your books on a shelf. You can also display them by name or author. You can organize them in collections, add books to Favorites. Books are easy to read since you can increase / decrease the font and luminosity and you even have an option for reading at night: white writing on black background. However, I never use it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for EPUBs as well as others May 1, 2014

If you're like me and frustrated by the Kindle's lack of support for EPUBs, Aldiko will do the job. It acts like any other reader app, allowing tags, shelves, bookmarks and so on. I liked the free one but upgraded to Premium because I wanted the ability to take notes and use highlights (as you can in Digital Editions).

Works great.

3.0 out of 5 stars Aldiko Book Reader Premium
The only thing I don't like with this product is that you have to go through the whole pages instead of just tapping one button and going to what you want.
