5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book Reader Ever.... April 5, 2011
as an owner of an ipod touch, iphone, ipad and an android tablet and phone i can safely say Aldiko is the best ereader i have ever used on any platform. its very responsive and well laid out. Navigating the software is very intuitive and comfortable. it supports a great many formats which has saved me the hassle of converting my books to a format it can handle. But what really sold me was that unlike a lot of readers you can import your books with ease either from their multitude of online repositories or by importing from your sd card. You can even email it to yourself and get it straight from your email. Their support team was also very friendly and quick. i had an issue with brightness that turned out to be a "feature" of my phone and they had responded and fixed it within an afternoon. I only give it 5 stars because 6 isn't an option.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best e-book reader for Android! May 4, 2011
Verified Purchase
Aldiko is the best e-book reader I have found for my Android phone. You can import any epub format book or download from Feedbooks, Smashwords or other online sites such as Project Guttenberg. Its ability to automatically bookmark your current page saves me a lot of time when I have to quickly put my phone away. I can just hit the Home button, lock my phone and be on my way assured that I can resume reading at the same place I left off. Give Aldiko a try. I don't think you will be disappointed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not too shabby April 20, 2011

eBooks are taking over the reading world it seems, and here is yet another reader for my device. So far, I've picked up the apps for Kindle, Nook, Google, and now this one. I've fooled about with each of them quite a bit, checking out what they have to offer and how easy they are to use.

Compared to the other three I mentioned, Aldiko stands out in few ways. First, the performance. Page flipping is rather slow, and I wasn't able to find a way to change this. It also feels a bit more sluggish in general browsing of libraries. Second, it enables you to pick up several other libraries, while the others are stuck with just their own and the typical free public domain books. Getting these other libraries (catalogs) installed is easy enough, if you can find them. I had to go through some web searching and trial and error before I could get one linked up properly, and the Help section built into Aldiko didn't have anything more to say other than how to add them. At least it already had 4 different libraries included. And finally, it's not nearly as good looking as the others. It's a matter of personal taste, just as it is with print/ebook reading, but it's important enough to me to mention.

Hopefully you have found this review helpful. If not, please feel free to leave comments/questions.

3.0 out of 5 stars Takes up too much valuable space November 20, 2011
Verified Purchase
I am not sure if anyone else noticed, but this app copies all my ebooks and epub magazine from their respective folders, and renames them according to their naming scheme, and places them in other folders which effectively doubles the valuable space used on my phone. I can't believe this is really necessary. It's so aggravating. I am going to try a different app.

5.0 out of 5 stars I use Aldiko on my Kindle Fire and it works great. August 17, 2012
You will have to go to the Aldiko web site and download it to your computer and then side load it. I have about 600 ebooks in ePub format. I'm not going to give up the ease of tags and other info. This is the best program if you have a large number of non DRM books. This program works fine on Kindle Fire.

Amazon why not just let us have Aldiko? I buy books from you ebooks and paperbooks. However, I read free books in ePub because Aldiko is soooo goooood.

If Amazon or someone else ever look at the way Aldiko catalogs books and gets the 6 dictionary like Sony reader they would have the best ereader ever made!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for reading ePub books on the Kindle Fire HD October 9, 2012
Verified Purchase
As many Kindle Fire users have pointed out, the Amazon tablet cannot read ePub books downloaded from the library. But if you have Alkido eReader, this problem is a thing of the past.

I downloaded this app, installed it, and logged on to my public library digital account to download several ePub books. Once downloaded and installed by tapping on the notifications messages by swiping down from the Kindle's display screen, each book was automatically transferred to the Aldiko eReader.

It's a great app and finally allows full access to my public library's extensive ePub book listings.

Highly recommended and saves a lot of hassle when compared to other "solutions" for reading ePub books on your Kindle Fire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the Kindle app March 30, 2012
Verified Purchase
Yes, I said it. I like this much better than the kindle app. It displays your place in page numbers rather than as a percentage. Additionally, it will read any epub file you already own, something I couldn't get kindle to do.

Hi, Nannette- I would recommend that you download and install http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008K6HN8I/ref=cm_cd_asin_lnk. Use ES File Explorer to search for the Aldiko Book Reader apk file. I would check either the "Downloads" or "Attachments" folder. Once... Read More
