More About the Author
With over 18 years of professional experience and expertise, Ugonna Wachuku was most recently a Communications Adviser and global strategies, partnerships, public information, research, public relations, policy, world wide web and new media consultant at UNESCO (03/2003-06/2010). Here, he served as an adviser to the 32nd President of the UNESCO General Conference and the Nigerian Permanent Delegation to UNESCO. Wachuku was responsible for creating partnerships for UNESCO with various companies, businesses, global personalities and the mass media.
Previously, Wachuku served as a Communications Research Consultant on policy, curriculum development, peace, health, HIV/AIDS issues, human rights, democracy, education, culture, humanitarianism, tolerance, public information, sustainable development, environment, food security and education for conflict prevention and social responsibility at UNESCO-IBE: International Bureau of Education (12/1998 - 02/2003).
Earlier, Wachuku was a Communications and Human Rights Consultant at the United Nations Mission of South Africa (01/1997-12/2008). Also, from 04/1996 to 04/1997, Wachuku was Internal Communications and Recreational Activities Coordinator at Foyer Le Lagnon residence: Geneva, Switzerland. From 01/1994-12/1995, Wachuku was Advisory Board Chairman at United Nations Information Centre, where he promoted United Nations mission through lectures, media outreach, partnerships, public relations and seminars. Wachuku was recognized personally by Nelson Mandela for his continued work and efforts to help South Africa develop through his book entitled The Great Place. Presently, Wachuku lives in Mexico City, Mexico with his wife and daughter.
