False advertising,
This review is from: Alen YTA500 Portable Mini Fridge (White)
The product description says the fridge can cool 40 degrees below ambient room temperature. The packaging on the product, which I received today, says 20 degrees below room temperature. I am very frustrated, and of course there is no information in the package that lets me know how to return the product, etc.

Good for meds,

I got this because im on special medication that needs to be kept cold at all times (Flolan). I love the little fridge and it works good. Note do not lay it flat the cooling plate will over heat and will not work. I use this to keep ice packs frozen and med cold. For this it works great i do not know if it would cool something that was warm before hand. It has given me the chance to do things i wouldnt have been able to do before

Slightly noisy, but dang, it's cold in there.,

I was expecting a fanless fridge so I was a little dissapointed in the noise. (I don't really know why I was expecting that, I don't think the description makes any such claims.) It really isn't that noisy though -- it's on-par with a well-ventilated computer, and quieter than my 8" desk fan.
The fridge does keep things *very* cold. It's much colder in there than our office fridge, which is a standard kitchen-sized refrigerator, and works well for storing temperataure-sensitive medications, a thing of yogurt, and some half and half :) It would be nice if the interior was about 1.5" taller, since it would then hold a standard glass soda bottle (eg: Jarritos), it might hold a 6-pack, but it would be a very, very close fit. I haven't tried the car adapter or the heating mode, but this fridge *did* come with all the cords needed to use it in a car or in a wall socket, unlike some that only have one or the other. Would I buy this fridge again? Yeah, I probably would. (Although, if I could get a slightly larger fridge for roughly the same price, I'd go with that.)

I received it quickly. It arrived in perfect shape. We used it on a recent trip. The in car jack allowed us to keep our meds. cold then upon arrival to our destination we transfered it from the car to our hotel room and then used the regular 110 volt wall plug and again it worked great! Thank you for this great product! It meets all expectations. Thank- you

Just as advertised, this is a mini refrigerator, it works well, but is too small to be practical unless you want to use it in an auto. It only holds 4 can sodas. I received it as a gift. Spend $25 more and get an dorm size mini fridge.

I was a little wary of this item, after reading some of the other reviews, but it's worked well for me so far (about a month now). Keeps beverages very cold. The cooling fan is a bit louder than I'd like, but not bad.

You get what you pay for.,

I picked this model up brand new for $30 at a major office supply store. Totally an impulse buy. I drink a lot of bottled water, and I link to keep some cold at my desk at work. Although this mini fridge will fit 6 cans of soda (I think?), it only fits 2 Glaceau Fruit Waters. Which is fine.
I thought it had stopped working at one point, but discovered that I just had the back of it too close to the wall-- it appears that the fan is not particularly strong. Once I moved it a few inches away from the wall, it started cooling properly again. I still use it, and have probably owned it for somewhere around 6 months now. Thanks to coworkers tampering with food out in the main fridge, I will probably replace this with something larger (and better) that will sit under my desk. |
