This review is from: Aleph Bet Story (Hardcover)
Wonderful chapter book with illustrations about the Hebrew alphabet; a story for each letter full of historical details about the Jewish people. My 5 year old son requested his own copy after his Hebrew teacher read chapters to the class at school.

This review is from: The Aleph-Bet Story Book (Paperback)
Simply put, this is my favorite Jewish children's book of all time. Each letter of the Hebrew alphabet is given a personality and a short (4-7 pages) story of its own. Many of the stories parallel Jewish tales from the Bible, rabbinic literature, and Jewish folklore. It is a marvelous introduction to Hebrew, and it is an especially wonderful book for parents to read to kids. The Aleph-Bet Story Book was originally published in the 1940s, and it is startling to realize that there really is nothing dated about it at all.Sadly this book is out of print. The Jewish Publication Society tells me that they have no plans to reprint it. Won't some Jewish publisher please reprint this classic?
