If you are talking about a chilli with snap, this certainly tops that category. Aleppo is the largest city in Syria by Turkish border. Compare to crushed pepper, Aleppo chilli peppers are as hot if not hotter, tasty without the lingering taste, without the seeds, very tasty but certainly salty. Sparkling colour. Excellent with everything specially on Avocados, sprats, melted cheese and a good stone grounded wheat tortilla. Amazon does not sell Penzeys brand, which is an excellent brand of chillis and their Aleppo chilli comes from Turkey as well. Aleppo works real well for marinading any food. Bravo.

Crushed red pepper is a staple in my house - I use it as a condiment, and in moderation in some dishes I prepare.

When I came across this I had to try it. It's nothing like my usual brand, Badia Crushed Red Pepper. This one is slightly salty and has a different texture.

I would rate it as medium hot, which is a subjective term. It's slightly hotter than a jalapeno and nowhere near as spicy as a habanero (sorry, but that's the best I can do to peg the piquant quality.)

What sold me on it is the flavor. Unlike crushed red pepper, which provides a bite, this provides the bite, but also has an interesting flavor. I cannot describe it, but there is a subtle sweetness. Another thing I love is when I make a sofrito (a base for stews, soups and sauces) I was unable to add crushed red peppers because they would stick to the pan. These do not. In fact, they quickly infuse the olive oil and blend perfectly with garlic when I am starting the sofrito.

Thus far I have been able to substitute this for any recipe that I would have used crushed red pepper. It is also the perfect condiment (assuming that you like red peppers.)

This pepper is moist and delicious. In fact, it is better than what I was buying at my local Middle Eastern grocery store. I use it in soups and stews and I often use it as a spicier substitute for paprika.

a mildly hot pepper, this is one of my favorites and not so easy to find. I like is best on eggs but it is also good on pizza and traditional dishes.

My sister asked me to make a particular dish on an elaborate menu she was putting together. It was for Aleppo Chicken, and I believe this pepper is named for the city in Syria that has been in the news for the last several years...perhaps because these come from Syrian peppers? it does have a distinct flavor I'm at a loss to describe now, but the chicken dish was delicious. It required mixing butter with this spice, lemon juice and lemons, red onions and more...it was a huge hit with the guests. It will be interesting to try in other recipes...

I wasn't able to find Aleppo pepper locally, so I purchased this brand from Amazon. I bought it for a braised cabbage recipe. I made it prior to buying the pepper, and it was OK, but not amazing. Honestly, adding the pepper made all the difference! I'm not sure where else to use it at the moment as I have no other recipes calling for Aleppo pepper. It would probably work well in most dishes calling for red pepper flakes. The flavor is similar to plain red pepper but there is more depth of flavor.

Very nice spice. Works great for anything you want chilli pepper in. Not crazy hot and has a nice flavor. Mix contains all chilli pod, no seeds. I would have ordered more, but they were out of stock.

Aleppo pepper has a wonderful flavor and just a bit of hot. Love it! I even use it to give a hint heat to Thai food.
