This product works well, but it could be so much better. It's as if it was never tested during the design process. Here are the many problems:

- Handle tends to fold on itself rather than stay in the 90 degree postion.

- Handle is so close to the ground, or the wall (if mounting on a wall), that you will scrape your knuckles when winding unless you are careful and hold the handle with your finger ends(stupid, stupid, stupid design).

- They supply two mounting brackets so that you can mount it to a wall or other place. But, it really must have four brackets for smooth operation. If mounted on a wall, the entire reel tends to come out of the brackets, especially when you have most of the cord rolled out. Very, very annoying. This could have been easily solved by making the channels on the brackets a little longer. Like I said, stupid design. You can buy extra mounting brackets for $5.00 by mail.

- The carrying handle on the top of the reel is hollow, so two very thin plastic edges cut into your fingers making it very uncomfortable to carry when you have 100 feet of heavy 12 guage cord. This is also really dumb and could have been easily avoided in the design.

- If you want to use it on the floor, you really should mount it to a board not only because of the above mentioned knuckle scraping, but because it will assist in holding the reel in place. Again, could have been solved easily in the design.

I still give 3 stars because it works and most of the problems can be solved if you are willing to work with it.

This works as advertised - solidly built. But there is one major problem - when you wind it both ends of the cable needs to be untethered. I woudl like to mount this a little far away from the power socket, so I want the power plug to be attached to the power socket. But, this doesn't allow it. It needs both end to be free - which is a bummer..

Product well made and handles 100' cord with ease. When wall mounting or when under stress from cord weight load, folding crank handle does not easily remain in lock open position while cranking. I solved problem by gluing wooden dowel in the hollow of the folding handle receiver leaving the handle in a permanent ready to use position.

The product is made of multiple layers of plastic and is very durable. The major issue is the spooning of the line is horrible and does not have any traction to keep the line is an order. For example, look at the product picture and you'll see a nice, ordered line wrapped around the center - THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN FOR YOU! The handle on the top is a little hard carry with a 100 foot line. Also, the handle came off while I was trying to find it up. Everything, and I mean everything, snaps on. The product is only 5 pieces of hard plastic snapped together. Unfortunetly, it doesn't weigh much (you think they could weigh it down for a cheap metal or sand!) so the line comes out of the socket without slack in the line - which defeats the purpose of this product. Ultimately, this product is cheaply made, over priced, and leaves room for much improvement.

I am really impressed with this cord reel. It exceeded my expectations. I noticed some reviewers mentioned that there was tight clearance between the handle and cord when fully coiled, most notably if you are using 100' 12/3. I found this to be somewhat true, but not a dealbreaker. Just for comfort - I modified the reel slightly. I cut out a notch in the handle using a Dremel tool with a grinding disc and added a rubber grip (the kind used to re-wrap racquets) just for added convenience. Took no more than 15 minutes at most and now I have a perfect cord reel. You can see from my photos that it is possible to wrap 100' of 12/3 cord pretty tightly where it doesn't look too bad. I imagine if I really spent the time I could have it look like the Amazon picture - I do think it is possible, but I just don't have the patience. Either way, it actually rolled up fairly easy. One thing to keep in mind is that this unit is pretty light and I had to clamp the unit to a bench to roll it up as tight as I did. I may want to add as others have mentioned a board for the reel to be mounted so the crank is raised off the ground just a bit and to keep it weighted so it does not move. But for the money this thing is amazing! I am using it with Yellow Jacket 2885 12/3 Heavy-Duty 15-Amp SJTW Contractor Extension Cord with Lighted Ends, 100-Feet and so far so good. Seems very well constructed.

I use this for a 100 foot extension cord and it holds the cord well. Worst problem is the collapsable handle is always folding down when you try to reel the cord in.

it was my mistake. I ordered 5 of these thinking that the cord came with it. I got cords for them and they seem to work ok. Just make sure to leave a good leader for the plug to the wall side when you roll your cord.

This is a really nice setup for the price. I ordered 2 and went back and ordered 4 more because I liked them so much. I have all of my air hoses and drop cords neatly stowed on my wall and the included hangers allow you to remove the whole unit to take to the job site. It makes cord / hose management easy and it looks really nice in the shop. I highly recommend this cord carrier and I may order a few more!

Rolls up 100' 12 AWG cord with no problem. I didn't mount it to the wall.

Good overall construction. Readily reels a power cord. It is solidly built for its price and material (plastic). Looking to get your cords organized? This will work under light conditions around the house.
