The regular-style chinois [not this one] is an excellent product and indispensable during soup-making season. Traditionally the chinois comes with a rack that can be positioned outside the pan or bowl you're straining food into - a far preferable method, to my mind, than this model provides because you can shake it. This particular model does bypass the sometimes clumsy balancing act involved with the rack, however, and works well as a colander that you can fit in a bowl.
The crazy aspect of this is the price, which so has to be wrong. The very same product, at the company's own website, sells for $48. You can see for yourself here: [...]
