4.0 out of 5 stars Bright & Beautiful Colors
These crayons are super vibrant and make it easy for my 15-month old to scribble around without having to push down very hard to get any color on the page like some other crayons. Lids are hard to get off, so that means no crayon on my walls or furniture.

3.0 out of 5 stars pricey
I expected these crayons to be a little bit more exciting then they were. For the price they weren't that much different from a regular box of crayons. My 6 year old daughter does enjoy using them and the colors are very vibrant. I do feel the cost is too high.

These crayons are more than what I thought they would be.They are so versitle, you smudge them, use water or by themselves. I have created many journal pages with them. Highly recommend them and they are really soft, a little goes a long way!!! Hopefully they will come out with more colors...

These creamy crayons are EX-actly that. When you color with them they feel so smooth and silky. They glide on the paper like butter. They feel so nice in your hands, the colors are bright and beautiful and they're so much fun! An added bonus - wet the paint brush and brush over what you've colored, and it appears like watercolors. My 3 1/2 yr. old son loves them! Great for kids, but if you love art, forget the kids, these are an absolute MUST for your painting, drawing, medium collection!!

bought these last year for my daughter who was nearing 3 at the time. big disaster, they are sooooo messy. so i stored them away till she was older. now, same story even though she handles them well. we end up with "creamy crayon" all over her, and all over the house! maybe i'll try again when she's 5 or older!

These crayons are so cool because the colors can be layered giving a depth that crayons cannot. I think I bought them too early; I should have waited until my youngest was at least five for them to truly be appreciated. You have to supervise while they play with these as the potential for messiness is amped up dramatically due to the consistency of the product. My recommendation age: 5 1/2 plus.

I purchased the creamy crayons for the grandkids, they really enjoyed drawing and coloring with them. Their mothers had tons of fun with them also. Something different from the markers and same old crayons. Maybe I'll get some for myself yet!!

We ordered these crayons along with My Very Own House. The colors are very bright and are so creamy that my 2 year old had not problems using them, didn't need to apply force for the color to show. Great product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Toddlers can use these crayons!, October 31, 2011

Toddlers can use these crayons (if they can be called that because they're so much more) to great educational advantage. But because the crayon is different from ordinary ones, the method for using them must be different.

Ordinary crayons, even the blocky ones, require pressure to get color onto the page. Toddlers quickly lose interest in this medium because they feel distracted from the primary purpose of putting color on the page by the need to regulate mechanically what their hands are doing. They don't have this problem with finger paints or markers, but each of these products tend to be used sparingly in many homes because of "mess" problems. However, creamy crayons allow them yet another, easily contained, form of expression that is invaluable to their budding artistic endeavors.

Here is how I do it: I tape a huge swath of art paper (from rolls of paper such as freezer paper) onto the children's table (which was formerly a coffee table). Then turn on some classical music or spa music, and allow each child to choose ONE color to work with. With unlimited space in which to draw and music to encourage the muse, they almost always go into a dreamy state and swirl their color with the music--sometimes large and sometimes small--changing pattern at will. In a while I offer to exchange one color for another and they choose again and move back to their art work. Once they lose the groove and begin tapping or swiping with the crayons, I end the art session ("let's hang it up now") but leave the music on in order to maintain the creative mood as long as possible.

Little kids do best when concentrating on one thing at a time--one crayon at a time--one color of play dough at a time--just a few doll house toys on a table instead of the whole doll house full of stuff. My rule is to divide up whatever toys come their way and only slowly add items to their play as their world becomes more complex and their ability to concentrate and fantasize increases.

So buy these special crayons. You'll love them and what they do to increase your children's artistic joy.
