5.0 out of 5 stars Alex, where art though?!?, December 8, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Alex Kidd in Miracle World (Mega Cartridge for Sega Master System) (Video Game)
Honestly, I'm not gay for Alex, but this game is a piece of my childhood memories that I hold just as dearly as I do my memories with the Mario series.

Sadly Alex only got two decent sequels and eventual death after Sega seemed incapable or uninterested in breathing fresh life into there classic icon. Granted, we got Psycho Fox (har har) and Sonic out of that decision, but you don't know what you're missing out on till you played Alex Kidd.

It's more or less like later Mario's in that it is very colorful, the stages are large and of a mixed variety, plus you get power ups in the form of rings, vehicles, and the like, though, instead of awesome boss fights at the end of each level. You end up playing Rock Scissor, Paper, which you also do through out the game to gamble for money. Mario encourages psilocybin use, and Alex encourages gambling. Also you do not break blocks with your head, or jump on enemies, you punch them, which you can also do while under water.

It's a different yet somewhat similar feel to Mario, and certianly worth the play if not just to check out a crucial and forgotten piece of platformer history.

(If you by the Master System make II, Alex Kidd comes build into the system!!)
