5.0 out of 5 stars My 2 year old LOVED this product!
I dind't know if I'd ever get him out of the tub! He did have a little trouble getting enough paint on his fingers, so I got his paintbrush, and that worked better. The yellow was a little hard to see, but they smelled great! He painted all the walls, then himself, and begged for more! When I told him we were saving some for later, he had fun washing off the walls...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money
The tail tore off the sponge fish during the first use. The paints aren't dark enough to see when smeared on the shower wall.

The yellow was a little hard to see, but they smelled great! He painted all the walls, then himself, and begged for more! When I told him we were saving some for later, he had fun washing off the walls with the fish-sponge. Then he played with the fish for a while pretending to catch it and cook it. To sum it up, when the bath was over, he clapped his hands and said "Mommy, I LOVE my tub paints!"

5.0 out of 5 stars A Kid's favorite bath toy, October 29, 2002
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

My daughter loves this set... we're on our 3rd. I can't imagine a child not loving this!

Obviously it doesnt last forever, but it lasts a lot longer than you would think it would by seeing the small bottles.
The colors are mostly really bright, and if you jostle the soap in the water to make bubbles you can see the color in the bubbles!

if you need to "bribe" a kid into the bath this toy is garenteed to do the trick!!

1 small complaint:
-the "pallate" is worthless.. it doesnt float and wont fit on the side of the tub.
(if you save the plastic part of the package it makes a MUCH better paint-holder.. although it takes on water as well if the child isnt careful)

It would be really great if they made a deluxe set with a good quality floating palate and maybe some stamps.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Impressed, October 10, 2003

This is an ok toy, but I wasn't all that impressed. There is not a lot of each color, and you really need a lot of one color to see it. It also really stung when my 3 year old got it in her eyes. She still loved it, but I would not buy again.

My daughter loves this stuff! I put in in a play kitchen pot (bad idea) and while she was leaning over to "paint" she dumped it. Used a taller plastic glass (good idea) and it worked much better. Thanks to the previous reviewer for the paint brush hint. It works much better with the brush, it lasts longer too. I agree, I wish they had refills. To heck with the educational value, IT'S PLAIN FUN!

My 2-year old twin girls love their tub paints! They paint the tub, their tub toys and ,of course, each other (and themselves ocasionally). They love to fill up the hand with different colors and and then figer paint them into the water. Very fun! I'd love to be able to by paint refills!

1.0 out of 5 stars Stained my washcloth, June 12, 2005
This review is from: Alex Paint in the Tub (Toy)
Along with many others, I found the colors to be almost nonexistant unless you used half the bottle. I also could not understand the stain on my new yellow washcloth. It took repeated washing and pre-soaks to remove the stain. Today my granddaugher dropped an opened blue bottle on the yellow carpet. After pre-treating and 3 washes, the stain has still not been removed. Not the best product I've ever tried! Almost the worst!

I've read the other reviews and perhaps some of us have purchased faulty sets. I bought the set with just the paints and foam fish, and the "paints" don't show up at all. I might as well hand my kid a bottle of colored shampoo and say, "here, smear it on the shower walls." It would be just as fun and cheaper. What a crock. Unless there is a pair of special glasses out there we're supposed to have--or a black lite--lemon juice?... Oh well, I'm e-mailing the company!

1.0 out of 5 stars Try bathtub tints instead, August 11, 2005

My daughter received these as a birthday present, and in the box they seemed like a great idea. Once we got them out for bathtime, though, it was a different story. Some of the colors were barely visible, and those that were (RED) refused to come off the grout in our tiles. Both of my children think the bathtub tints that change the water color are a whole lot more fun! They certainly are easier to clean up, too.

I tried these paints after my two year old mangled the bathtub crayons (also an Alex product). I miss the crayons; they were more fun, but at least the paint will last a little longer. I read the reviews and may try adding a paintbrush to the tub tonight. Thanks for the great advice!
