5.0 out of 5 stars Gift for our granddaughter
I purchased this for our 6 year old granddaughter. She immediately tore open the box and began making potholders. After explaining the instructions to her, she started making potholders like she had been doing this for a lifetime. She certainly has enjoyed this and is almost ready to order more loops. A fine gift..

2.0 out of 5 stars Loop N Loom
Bought for my grandduaghter and she loves it - hardly put it down - I had bought an extra pkg of the loops so she wouldn't run out. Making great designs & colors. BUT the draw back - you cannot use. Did not realize this until it melted onto an oven shelf. And I mean really melted - must be plastic. Wish someone would offer cotton loops so the item would be useable...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Item for 7 Year Old, December 28, 2008

I got this for my 7 year old daughter as a Christmas present. She absolutely loves it and started making potholders for her family. She was able to weave the looms herself and with a little help, take the potholder of the loom. The loom is metal and looks like it will last over time.

What a great present for those that are crafty.

5.0 out of 5 stars My son loves this kit!, January 4, 2010

I purchased this for my 4 1/2 year old son, because I remember how I enjoyed making potholders when I was a child. I was worried that he might be a bit young, but he got the hang of it pretty quickly. When he finished the first potholder, he rushed next door to proudly present the potholder as a gift to our elderly neighbor. He LOVES to make potholders- this is a real confidence builder. He used all the loops in less than two weeks, we have already gotten 3 replacement bags. This kit is a MUST for every family!

Here's a tip for when your child starts their first potholder- have them choose two colors that they alternate-for example, red green red green etc.- that way it's easy to tell them that they should weave over all the green loops and under all the red loops.

Age states 5 - 12 but is really hard to work at the lower ages stated as the dexterity isn't there yet, but they do like to try.

My boy's 10 & 7 loved this. The 10 year old was able to do everything from start to finish and the 7 year old was able to do most (and he can't even tie his shoes yet!). We used every single loop already! If I could change anything it would be that the loom would not be in a "girl color." Most crafting items are and they show a girl on the package. That deters most boys from even the desire of trying to craft.

I remember making potholders with my Mother's loom when I was little. I like the fact that the loom is metal, I wish that the hook was also metal, but that is easily replaced. I was disappointed that the potholder cannot be used, I am buying some cotton loops so that my daughter can make real potholders.

I bought this for my 5 year old daughter and she is able to do it with some direction but a nice surprise is that her older brothers (9&7) are helping and enjoying it too.

I bought this about 18 months ago for my in-home childcare. My kids use it every day and still love it. They range in age from 2 to 6 and all of them are able to manipulate each piece of fabric to play with this, although the 2-year old naturally has more of a struggle to stretch each piece to the loom. The kids love making patterns, new creations, wearing them on their head (I gave up on that battle long ago), sorting, and counting them. Not only is this wonderful for fostering their creativity, but it hones their fine motor (small muscle), logic (sorting and patterning), and math (counting)skills. Of course, they just know it's fun! It's INCREDIBLY durable, every piece holding the same strong shape as if it was new and the loom is metal and very sturdy. It will last forever. The loom itself is pointy, though not sharp, so make sure you or your kids clean it up after you're done as it doesn't feel good to step on it. :) This was $14 well spent and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

I am SO sick of potholders. I bought this for my daughter for her 8th birthday in September. I have since purchased two refill loop bags and she is asking for more this Christmas. It keeps her busy for hours. She is so proud of her work and she loves to give them away. Grandma, grandpa, aunts, friends and teachers are all proud recipients of her work. Her 2 year old sister uses them to play with her dolls as blankets and rugs. I never thought potholders would be so interesting!!! Too funny.
