5.0 out of 5 stars Passes European Toy Standards, March 11, 2010

I bought this playdough set for my daughter because it passes the European toy standards which is a huge bonus. I also bought it because it is made of wood. It is very high quality. Unfortunately my child still asks to play with the plastic cookie cutters with her playdough. Her favorite out of this set is the pizza cutter tool. Only wish the storage area for the playdough was for regular sized playdough. These are mini cups. So if you buy this set make sure you buy a pack of playdough to go with it. Other than the mini playdough storage it is a great set and would recommend to any child who loves playdough. The bright colors also make it more appealing to children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Formaldehyde Compliant, not Complaint!, October 18, 2011

Greetings!

My wife and I bought this toy in April 2011 for $20.63 here on Amazon. Our two year old son and three year old daughter have gotten countless hours of enjoyment from this product, and it has been well worth the money. The storage case it comes with is handy, the tools themselves are very durable and easy to clean, and in general this product is very good.

The main reason I'm writing a review, however, is because another reviewer has given this item two stars and stated that it contains Formaldehyde. This is simply not true. There's a sticker on the package that says the toy is "Formaldehyde Compliant" meaning it complies with safety standards consistent with those a concerned parent would wish for toy maker to follow, and doesn't use Formaldehyde in the particle board pieces. The other reviewer, however, seems to have transposed a letter and thought the label said "Formaldehyde complaint." I'm not even sure what exactly that would mean, but suffice it to say they are wrong, and they're spreading misinformation about this great product.

Bottom Line: This is a very safe toy and a lot of fun. Fantastic for smaller children (with supervision, because you never know when something is going to look delicious to a two year-old). Highly recommend. Thanks for reading!

P.S. I don't work for the toy company or anything, I just very much dislike it when people share erroneous information about a product. Regardless of whether the information is positive or (as it is in this case) negative, false information hurts the community and leads to poorly informed purchases.

I am very impressed with the quality of this product. Especially for the price; it is a great deal for sturdy, wooden tools. My 5 year old and my 2 year old both love playing with these tools. The rolling pins actually turn on their handle unlike other play dough tools so my 2 year old can roll something out without it sticking to the rolling pin. The pizza cutter is a big hit and the patterned stamp tools are fascinating to them. The play dough, though good quality, comes in a tiny quantity so I would recommend buying larger tubs of dough especially if you are giving this as a gift. These tools beat out so many of the plastic Play-Do tools that require parental help and strength to use. Great buy for solo fun for your child.
