5.0 out of 5 stars what a helpful monkey! December 23, 2008
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This is a really cute, happy looking monkey that actually teaches without batteries, lights or noise! He has several dressing activities, similar to Dressy Bessy and Dapper Dan. He has a zipper, buttons, straps, etc. to help the little ones learn to dress. It has a lot of detail, check out the shoes! He even has a little banana that can be stored in his pocket, which for some reason fascinates my young grandson! This is a well made, sturdy toy that my grandson loves to play with and love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great learning toy May 31, 2009
By S. Bell
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
My 2 year old loves this monkey. He has fun undressing him when I put the clothes on it (he can't quite get the clothes on the monkey himself yet, but he can sure take them off!). He also loves to wear the 'monkey socks'.

Unlike many of the other 'learn to dress' toys, the individual components of this one are sturdy and well made. The buttons are oversized and are just the right size for little hands. Overall, this is great for teaching children about different types of clothing fastener.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smart buy January 13, 2009
Durability: 4.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I was looking for a doll with learn to dress features..and ran across this item. I ordered two, one for each two year old granddaughter. They are not quite old enough to perform all the tasks, but will learn. The colors are vivid, the girls love them. You need to know that every piece of clothing comes off....shoes, socks, even the shoe laces, in case you have a child who immediately takes all loose objects off!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality December 13, 2010

Durability: 1.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 1.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this doll for my 2 year old Granddaughter for Christmas. She likes to buckle and unbuckle things so I thought this would be a good toy for her to learn how to button, snap and tie. After she opened it and began to play with it I realized that the buttonhole was too small for the button and the snaps were extremely hard to snap and unsnap. I was thoroughly disappointed in the quality of this toy. I thought it was supposed to help a child learn not frustrate the child! Would definately NOT recommend this toy!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Idea, but has issues May 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
Durability: 2.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Like other reviewers have mentioned, the buttons are poorly attached - one of ours came off the first day, within 30 minutes of play, and our little girl is very gentle with her toys. But what is a bigger issue, in my opinion, is the feet on this doll. The feet are not shaped like feet, they're just 'balls' on the end of the legs, and most importantly, they're soft. They're like round socks filled with stuffing. So getting the socks and shoes onto these 'feet' is a little difficult even for an adult, and practically impossible for a 3 year old. They feet should have been make of a hard material, like a plastic or some kind of stiff rubber, and they should have been shaped like actual feet. As it is, they are useless in helping a child learn to put on shoes and socks. Also, the zipper is cheap and a bit of a challenge to open and close. I find it quite disappointing, because this is a great idea for a learning toy, just very poorly executed.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best dress up toys we have!!!! September 12, 2009
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Our daughter received this dress up monkey for her second birthday. She has learned how to put socks, pants and shoes on and off from using him. She has also learned how to operate a zipper (his is one of the better ones). I think he is a good value for the money and very durable. He is still going strong after a year of use. We have two others a generic one (brand unsure) and Squeak E Mouse. Squeak E Mouse is also a good version. He comes with a jacket with a hood and a back pack--very cute and durable as well--she just doesn't like playing with the mouse so we use the clothes on the monkey and other dolls.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just not interested yet August 17, 2009

My son is 2 1/2, I bought this for him thinking it might help him become interested in helping to dress/undress himself. No luck. He doesn't want to play with it. I think it's cute. I see the value in it. I really like it...
I do have a couple of "problems" with it. The tail...yes, it is a monkey and therefore has a tail, but I see how difficult it would be to get the tail through the overalls at 18 months (beginning age range) or even 2 years of age. Also, the shoes are a pain to get on and I am considerably older than the suggested age range. ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Alex Learn to Dress Monkey is a winner!!! September 17, 2009
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
We bought this monkey for our granddaughter for her second birthday. After looking on line at all the learn to dress toys this was the one that appealed the most. I especially liked that there was a completed act, a goal - instead of just unzipping and zipping a zipper you could undress the monkey and dress it again. Alex was a hit from the first moment and now Alex sleeps with her, in various states of dress or undress. He is just adorable, colourful and cuddly. Yes, there are parts to get lost, so this might not be a toy to take everywhere. But part of learning to get dressed is putting on the socks and shoes, the shirt, the pants, not just unbuttoning a button and doing it up again. Her best friend bought one the same day, and Alex has been our granddaughter's constant companion. A #1 in our book.
