This review is from: Alex Ready, Set, Go! Red Trike (Toy)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I assembled this trike for my nearly 5 year old daughter (who is motor delayed and only now learning to peddle a bike and steer at the same time). I can't speak to the baby settings, but at the oldest setting, this bike is awesome!
I totally thought that it this trike would be a piece of plastic garbage like so many other things out of China. I couldn't imagine how they could justify the price when Radio Flyer has nice metal construction trikes out there. Well, I'm eating my words. First of all, the bike is pretty sturdy. The wheels are wider than a lot of trikes. I've found that among a sampling of trikes, the Alex is as sturdy as a Fisher Price or Kettler (yes, this seems to run the price gamut)--and far more sturdy than a Radio Flyer. I prefer Alex's upright seating position, however, which resembles the Kettler & Radio Flyer to Fisher-Price's slightly lower and leaned back seating. Since my daughter occasionally bikes in her skirt or dress, I get maybe another inch off the ground to keep the flying mud off. Of course, I'm still constantly tucking the skirt behind her into the seat anyways. I was surprised that my daughter could still fit into the trike. She's by no means a small girl. Throughout her toddler years, she was at the 70-90 percentiles for height and weight. I'd say she's closer to 60-70 percentiles now, but she still can ride this trike. That tells you that it's really a good investment for potentially 5 years or more worth of use --just for one child! The parent steering is really smooth. The mechanism to lengthen or shorten the handle is a little annoying and doesn't look too durable, but so far so good. The assembly really sucked. Seriously. The bucket was horrible to get on and at this point, it's fallen off and we've lost it. The instructions were bad and difficult to understand. When I first assembled, one wheel just didn't seem to stay on and never made the click sound to tell me it stuck on no matter how hard I pushed. But my husband went outside and pounded on it and it finally clicked together. The wheels work fine for us outdoors though. I saw some reviews said that they didn't work well. I live in Baltimore and the sidewalks are like swiss cheese, but DD seems to manage. Now, the best part it turns out about the bike is that b/c of its plastic construction, it doesn't rust in the rain the way the Radio Flyers and Kettlers do. I've held off on writing this review for six months now and the thing has been outside in the blaring down sun, rain, snow, ice, etc. The color has not faded at all, and the trike still pedals like new. For that reason alone, I think it gets 5 stars. If you found this review helpful, please let me know.

This trike is well-designed, sturdy, and user-friendly! Everything is positioned well and you can tell that much thought has gone in to this product. It is made well and has held up very well under regular use by our 1-year old. Our only recommendation would be to put better tires on it. The plastic tires that it comes with are fine for indoor use, but don't work well for outdoor use.

Whoa! This is the Swiss army knife of preschool transportation. I have expected this toy to rock our son to sleep, fill his sippy cup and teach him his colors!
That being said, we found this toy to be a devil to put together, even for my mechanically minded husband. When asked about the educational value of this toy as part of the Amazon review, I wish I could have replied for us as parents...my husband certainly learned a great deal about the fiting together of parts. This is a very durable, high quality set of materials, with an awkward design. Our son seemed to enjoy it well enough, but not so well that I would recommend this to other parents as a solution to eh problem of collecting multiple means of transportation/fun for their child as he/she matures. Good try! Could be better. 2115|RQLZ6H2DBGFD4;2115|R1A87K80CP902O;2115|R1ATMIAFUEJDST;
