The Best Bathtub Crayons Available,

These are, without a doubt, the BEST bathtub crayons available (and we've tried all brands!) The pigment is vibrant, and they even color under water. It doesn't matter if they get wet...they still work (unlike other bathtub crayons). These 'click' up to expose fresh crayon, and do NOT dissolve in water. Clean up is easy with the provided duck sponge (and when my husband is in charge of bathtime, and forgets to clean the tub, I can testify that they do, indeed, wash off without staining the tub!) I can't recommend these crayons enough to other parents...our toddler loves them and has become quite the bathtime artist. A great gift for friends too!

Used to be a great product,

We got these for our 18 month old son in Christmas of 2009. They were great. Smaller than you might expect, but they had bright colors - worked when wet - even if dunked and were long lasting - we still have 4 of the 6 colors - although they are running out. They also cleaned so easily! So we decided it would be a great Christmas present this year (Xmas 2010). However the new set is horrible! We just opened it to start using and they clearly changed the crayons. They are slighly longer within the holders (probably due to complaints about how short they actual crayon part was) and the colors are slighly different. But those are not the issues. The issues are that the crayons do not draw on any bit of water or even damp, but dried off with a towel surface. If you do draw on a dry surface the crayons are used up super fast. What use is a longer length if they get used up 5-6 times as fast? The "scrubber duckie" as my son calls it, is not as good either. The back used to be textured and helped "scrub" off the crayons - although it wiped off with a cloth. But it was flexible so you could wring out the duck to dry. The new duck has a stiff back that does not help at all wiping away anything and also cannot be wrung dry. My son keeps asking for the "old crayons" even though we no longer have his favorite colors. He would rather have something tha can draw in the bath than his favorite colors. A HUGE dissapointment that they changed a wonderful product.

My 20 month old son loves these crayons -- they color well, clean up easily and don't dissolve. However, the crayons keep falling out of the plastic holders. This bothers me more than it does my son.

Better than Crayola,

Someone gave these to us when my son was 9 months old. He loved holding them and it has been fun watching him learn to "color" and develop his hand-eye coordination. He is now 22 months old and we've just used them up and I had to buy the Crayola tub crayons because I couldn't find these at Toys R Us. The Crayola crayons are thinner (which doesn't hold up as well to toddler abuse) and have more colors, but I like these better because they come with the ducky sponge to wash the crayon off the walls (my son loves that part, too). These crayons are a surefire way to get my son into the bathtub.

My daughter recently discovered bath crayons and I was very excited to buy these for her. The good thing is that she loves them. As other reviewers have mentioned, the crayons don't stay in the holders and she had just as much fun putting them in the holders, taking them out, putting them in again, etc. as she did drawing on the bathtub. I wouldn't have minded that except for the fact that her hands are now nuclear orange, and it has been 2 days and her fingers are still stained. If they didn't stain so much, I would like this product more.

These crayons permanently STAINED the grout in between the tiles of my tub!!! The photo on the package shows the crayons being used on tile and grout... once I could not get the stains out I looked on the package and in the smallest print ever it says that it may stain grout... WHY show a picture of it being used on grout if it STAINS?!!! awful... not to mention, the crayons don't stay in their holders...

The crayons are only half the size of the holder- not such a big deal to me- the fact that they quickly fall out is. once they're out of the case, my little one can quickly break them into many pieces, get them under his nails, and to be fair has a hole heck of a lot of fun with them. You cannot get them to stay in the case. I didn't have a problem with any staining. So in a nutshell. My kid enjoyed them, but I will never purchase them again and I would only recommend them if you only want to play with them one time. After this product I bought these Star Crayon in the Tub and they are awesome and very durable.

Messy!,
This review is from: Alex Toys Rub A Dub Draw In The Tub (Baby Product)
I have been given 2 boxes of these crayons for my 3 and 5 year old sons. The boys LOVED them...I did not. They actually do stain some tubs (both of mine). The marks eventually come off with a good deal of scrubbing. The little ducky sponge helps but in my personal opinion the after clean up effort makes the fun the boys have with these crayons less than desirable. If you are looking for REAL kid fun in the tub I'd go with the Crayola color dots! The can comes with 3 different color pellets. By mixing 2 pellets into the tub water a child can see how 2 colors create a new color. Colors are vibrant and even change bubble bath bubbles to their color. MUCH easier to clean up and just as much fun.

This product has potential if the holder were redesigned. The crayons (amazingly small compared to the holder) fall out of the case all the time. My son tries to color with them, but if he tips the crayon upside down or sideways, out comes the crayon into the water. The crayon itself seems to color well but I can't recommend anything else about them. If they made a case that actually would hold the crayon and allow it to be advanced a little at a time, that would be great.

I was excited to find these crayons, and saw such great reviews....perhaps I expected too much, but I could not have been more disappointed with this product, especially considering it costs so much! The packaging conceals the fact that these crayons are in a casing..."how nice", I thought at first. I don't have to worry about the crayons "melting" in my daughter's hand...and "how nice", I thought, that it has a little "clicky" slide advancer thing on the side...well, the crayons themselves are only half the size of the case they are in. I didn't measure them, but I'm guessing about 2 inches. (Look for the picture of the bath crayon "holder" on here; see the white stub for advancing on the holder; that is where the crayon starts.) Four of the six fell out of the casing immediately; I guess they were broken at the base. So I had 4 loose crayons, which of course, my daughter held onto tightly...and broke one right on half. Hard for fat little hands to use stubs. The colors were less than vibrant, even on my white tub. My daughter is now officially stained by the crayons. I had to explain that the red, yellow and green on her neck and legs is from soap crayons, and not bruises, at her daycare this morning.I had no problem with the seller, and my daughter did like them (of course!), and they did not stain my tub. These are the only positives. They are now in the trash. I wonder if any one makes those good soap crayons I remember having as a kid? I CANNOT recommend this product. |
