the problem with this product is that the quilt turns out to be about 1/10th the size of the quilt that is pictured on the box and in the advertizment. also my neice and i put put it together and she is ten. the quilt is reccommended for kids as young as 6. NO WAY! it was a little like 6 sessions chinese water. nice bonding time but i cant see a regular 6 year old having the endurance to finish it, i almost didnt! because i want my neice to have a quilt like the one on the box i am very tempted to buy 10 more kits and adding them to the one we made together. but i dont think i would have enough days in my life left to finish it. she did like it though and felt proud of the little napkin we made together.

I ordered this for my 7 year old, and she loves it. The only thing is that her quilt didn't turn out so nice and neatly done as the picture shown. She knotted too tightly and has gaps between each square. But over all she enjoyed using her hands, and laying out how her quilt would look.

I purchased this item as a craft gift that my daughter could make for her aunt. True, it isn't an extremely durable item, but my expectation is that it will be more of a "collectible" than a quilt that is getting actual USE.

My daughter is 10 and she didn't have any issues with tying the knots (although she did complain a bit about how many she had to tie). She enjoyed laying out the pattern and choosing which squares would have the special additional decorations.

I would say that the finished item is smaller than you might think of for a throw or quilt; we considered getting an additional package so she could expand it, but remembering again that this will be more of a sentimental item than a useful quilt, she decided to just finish it at the size included. The felt is pretty thin, but it you are an experienced sewer you could probably back it to another fabric to make it more like a real quilt.

I think this will be very appreciated by the recipient even though it wouldn't pass muster as a durable blanket on a cold night!

I hate this blanket. My daughter received it last year as a birthday gift. The material is very flimsy and the add on material that are suppose to stay in place with additional knotting do not. They fall off all the time. Every time she gets it out, I have parts all over my house. My girls also grew bored with this, as keeping track of all the knots was difficult for a 5 year old. My sister and mom ended up doing most of the work.

This is a great craft for kids whose moms or grandmothers do not sew or have a sewing machine. Easy to learn with the step by step instructions on "you tube" for tying the double knots. My granddaughters, ages 11 and 12, loved it. They made one last year and this year made the Super Knotted Quilt, and loved it again. One thing they learned was to knot the stretchy side of one piece to the non-stretchy side of another so that there are not big gaps. You can lay it all out this way before you start to knot. Also don't give this gift to them in the evening as they will not go to sleep until it is done! It takes about six hours. Great craft!

So fun and creative. This is definitely the best kit out there! Great design! All the fleece strips are cut accurately and evenly - no jagged edges or mismatched numbers of strips on each square. Very easy. Such vibrant colors. To make the letters, you cut out a stencil, and then use that to cut out the adhesive-backed material. I wasn't sure this would really stick to the fleece, but it did and it stayed on, (so far it has had three months use). My daughter did not double knot most of the squares, mostly because as she went along knotting we found many times that she had skipped a strip, and so we had to go back an untie to incorporate the missing strip. So then we started tying only once to make corrections easier. And then later we made it even simpler -when we found random strips we had missed we didn't even bother fixing it right, but just tied them onto another pair of strips and it really was fine. Nice large blanket size - not like a baby blanket that doesn't even reach your toes.

Bought this quilt kit for my niece for Christmas . She really liked it. She enjoys craft kits like this and this particular kit had many customizations to make it look the way she wanted.
