Editorial Reviews

Special Features: -Interactive Menus -Special Commentary by Co-Creators Tom Patchett, Paul Fusco, and ALF Himself on " Try To Remember" -Cast Biographies -ALF's Special Christmas: ALF's Special Christmas (Part 1+2)" the Tanners check into a remote cabin in the woods. ALF accidentally gives Willie some Poison Ivy mistaking it for Holly. As a result Willie gets an allergic reaction and ALF runs away to the local hospital, where he is mistaken for a toy and given to a girl called Tiffany. The story continues as ALF does some good deeds, helping Tiffany to have a good Christmas, delivering a baby in an elevator, and helping the owner of the cabin, Mr Foley, to realise that he shouldn't commit suicide. It is quite a heavy, heart felt story for a comedy, but it still remains quite funny. Try To Remember: "Try To Remember (Part 1+2)" is probably the best special. The story begins with ALF hitting his head in the shower, and waking up believing he is an insurance salesman called Wayne Schagel who thinks the Tanners are holding him hostage. The story is just an excuse for a best of series of clips as the Tanners try to remind ALF of who he really is. The clips are very funny, and are mainly taken from the ALF movie where he first arrives at the tanners house as a crash landing alien. Tonight, Tonight: "Tonight Tonight (Part 1+2)" ALF is the guest host for Johnny Carson. With other guests including Ed McMahon, Tommy Newsome, Fred de Cordova, Rich Little, Dr. Joyce Brothers, Joan Embery, and the Pope. This special is also an excuse for a lot of best of clips, this time from the series. Some of them are very funny, such as when ALF gets space Hick Ups.

3.0 out of 5 stars Casual Alf fans only - hardcores avoid, August 23, 2007
This review is from: The Alf Files (DVD)
If you have any plans on owning all 4 seasons of ALF than you will get every episode on this compilation disc including the christmas special with Tiffany and all the clip shows.

So the Alf Files is only for people who want a reminder of Alf and have no intention of buying the actual seasons. I own all the seasons and the Alf files has nothing I didnt already own.

Also, the description is wrong: where it says it contains clips from the "movie" of him crash landing, that is incorrect. His crash landing clips are from the pilot episode (which you can watch in full if you get season 1)

The "Alf project" movie is not from before the series, its from after the series and picks up on Alf alone being held prisoner by the government (which is how the series season 4 ended)

So, hardcore alf fan? get all 4 seasons, the alf project movie (and maybe the cartoons... though they dont hold up as well to being watched 20 years later, where as the live action series is still funny to me); and skip this alf files disc with reruns content.

Minor alf fan? this is a nice dvd for someone who just wants to flash back on alf moments from the '80s without the expense of investing in 4 seasons + a movie.

Im giving my alf files dvd to a friend who doesnt want to buy the entire series like i did.

4.0 out of 5 stars Alf is awesome, January 10, 2007
This review is from: The Alf Files (DVD)
This DVD includes the ALF Christmas special movie. The story begins when the tanners spend xmas in a log cabin and ALF ends up in the back of a truck going to a hospital. Then comes a touching story about ALF helping a little girl who is going to die in hospital. The reason I give this DVD 4 stars is because it also includes the ALF talk show which is not so hot. But anyway Alf rocks!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars OK if you don't have the sets, January 15, 2012
This review is from: The Alf Files (DVD)
I got this after I got all 4 seasons, the cartoons, and the Project ALF movie on DVD; thinking I was missing something. After finding out it was just stuff I had (luckily I was out $5) I give the DVD to an nonprofit I work with sometimes and they was it to show the Christmas special every year in an office party.
