An Automotive Fashion History,
By Motor_Memories (Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Alfa Romeo: Legends (Colour Classics) (Paperback)
In most respects this is more of a picture book than a 'history' book. There is some text to be sure, and the text shows a clear knowledge of the subject by hitting the key elements of Alfa History with clever insightfulness. But, the clear thrust of this book is to present a history of Alfa through contemporary color photos - and Oh! - What photos! Professionally shot with attractive backgrounds, including many that are accompanied by pretty girls who never look at the camera - perhaps they didn't want to be recognized while having to compete with such eye-pleasing sheet metal.
Alfas have always been used by carrozzeria for making fashion statements - many of which have gone into production. Alfa's history is too extensive to be completely covered in only 128 pages, but this book makes a lovely addition to your library for presenting many of Alfa's most attractive and popular cars in professionally filmed color images - tough to do for most marque history books. A delightful guide to automotive fashion history by focusing on one of the top 'super-model' marques. |
