Alfi carafes are great but not this one! Exterior is perfect; inside shows wear (glass lining is spotty looking) but doesn't affect function. The problem is the rubber seal which is loose and allows coffee to pour all over both you and your cup! A mess! I gave it away after one too many spills.

Yes, it is expensive, but as one other reviewer said; it will last forever.
We've now had our Alfi Opal carafe for well over 5 years and it's still going strong. It keeps our coffee hot for hours on end (8+) and has a solid fool-proof seal that has never leaked a drop! BTW, this is not occasional use... we use it at least twice a day, 7 days a week! We brew our coffee straight into the carafe and simply rinse it out after we're done. Yes, after all this time, the "white" stopper is brown, but still functions flawlessly!

Having worn through many coffee carafes that have push-button lids that eventually stop working, we found this carafe that just has a lever to open the lid. Simple mechanics that can't break is the best policy when you want something to last forever. Pay $200 now or buy 5 others at $40+ and dump in the trash.
