The first one arrived somewhat loose in a box, must have rolled around because the shinny finish was marred and couldn't be corrected. I sent it back and had a replacement sent. Much better care was taken with second shipment and it arrived nice and shinny. This is an outstanding carafe that seals really tight at the top to keep the coffee hot. Superior to the Thermos brand carafes. For serious coffee drinkers it's much better drinking coffee from a carafe than coffee that's been cooking on the coffee maker burner a couple hours.

I have no clue what the other reviewers are talking about when they state that this carafe does not keep their water/coffee hot! They must've not read the instructions, and are not "pumping" the little lever two or three times after closing the lid. A vacuum is created when you do that, and next time you press the lever (e.g. to pour the liquid out) you actually hear a PFFFFT! My water, which I pour into a cup for tea, is kept VERY hot for several hours. I mean 5-6 hours, being hot enough to brew tea (luke-warm water would not work!) Yes, not for 13 hours as stated in the description, but I am not using boiling water, just hot water that comes from a normal office cooler (around 180 degrees Farenheit... water boils at 312 degrees!)
Regarding the capacity: exactly 4 metric cups. Basically: 1 liter, or around 1/4 of a gallon. I guess that could be translated into "8 cups" of coffee or tea, if each cup does not hold 1 metric cup... but, I agree that the description is misleading because I was thinking at first that it will have a capacity of 2 liters (8 metric cups). With that said, 1 liter is plenty of water/tea for me in a regular day.
Regarding the color: yes, it is not as glossy as in the picture, but it is not too far from it. WAY better than one of those ugly aluminum or steel carafes with black plastic on the top and bottom!!!
All in all, this is a fantastic product, for an excellent price. Just don't forget to pump!!

We bought these so our guests could have ice water in their rooms. The ice literally stays frozen for days...even when the top is off.

A good value and does the job for our B & B guests.

The upside is that it's very nicely priced, it's easy to clean, and very attractive in the Ink Blue. The downside is the most important part...it only keeps my coffee at a farely hot temp for about 3-4 hours..after that my coffee is just warm.

Before Alfi I had a carafe that was supposed to "keep liquids warm for hours." What a joke. It kept my coffee hot for minutes.

I'm happy with my Alfi. It keeps coffee steaming hot for 3 hours, good and warm for another 3. The fuller the carafe the longer it keeps coffee hot. One morning I made cofee and put in the Alfi, but had to leave without having a cup. When I returned at 5 pm the coffee was still hot for dinner. I pre-heat the carafe with hot tap water. I think helps save a few degrees.

I ordered ink blue, but it was out of stock. The company called and I ordered white instead. It came in a few days. I'm happy with the carafe and the company that supplied it.

Like a lot of other reviewers, I have to mention this arrives poorly packaged... how many of us need to say this before they do something? Nothing was broken, but parts of the outside were a little scuffed (you have to catch it in the right light to notice, though).

Works well, holds a reasonable amount of liquid (about 7 cups, as measured on a coffee maker). This can be a little annoying if you brew a larger amount of coffee (a lot of makers can produce 10-12 cups at one time), but usually someone is there to take some immediately before the rest gets placed in the carafe.

It keeps coffee hot about 4 hours (5 max). After that, it's still very warm but requires some microwave time to get back to temperature. I know several folks are critical of this, but honestly -- use some common sense. This small amount of liquid is NOT EVER going to stay hot for longer than that if you're steadily serving from it. If you fill it to the top, then don't touch it for 10 hours... yeah, it probably would still be hot until you started serving it.

Another caveat: the lid is "dribbly" and probably the only thing I don't like about it.

I ordered this for the purpose of having a large carafe for entertaining. Upon arrival, it immediately looked small and I saw on the bottom a 1-liter label. I returned the product thinking they shipped the wrong size. Second product arrived exactly the same. I spoke to an Amazon rep who suggested I be given a refund and he would report the problem. I was told the description would be changed to be accurate and that I could do a search for a larger carafe. The product description has not been changed. I did not use the product but be warned, THIS IS A ONE-LITER OR 4-CUP CARAFE.

This carafe is exactly as promised. I received the product in a timely manner and undamaged.
I was only disappointed in the way it was shipped. I think I was lucky it didn't arrive broken because it was poorly packed. There was only padding to keep it from shifting side-to-side, but it exactly fit the depth of the box and had no padding between the top and bottom of the box.

The first time I ordered this carafe it arrived rolling around in the box. It appeared scratched and practically used. I returned the item to and received my second one in the same condition. We order from amazon monthly and this is a very poor representation of their company. Two words...quality control.

The orders arrived promptly, however two carafes were broken on the pour spots due to not enough packing material. one was replaced quickly and the second has yet to appear. Lovely color and works well. replacement item was very carefully packed and undamaged.
