2 Michelin star and now up for a 3rd one of the few restaurants staples in all of the Europe is where the great Don Alfonso 1890 is born. Alfonso Iaccarino is the chef and owner of Don Alfonso 1890 situated in Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi. I have eaten and stayed at the 5 star hotel and eaten at the 2 star Michelin restaurant. Brilliant is the only way to characterize his food. He like Adrian Farran are the toasts of Europe there is no third.

I bought his book after eating at Don Alfonso 1890. He makes Michelin star cooking into an art form for any chef or foodie would love to know the high Italian cooking using local ingredients is the basis for his Michelin status. You will fall in love with the simplicity of cooking and ease at which he teaches you his craft. When you are through you will likely want to venture to this incredible town where Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Leopardi, Manzoni, Oscar Wilde all stayed and ate and wrote masterpieces. Be inspired to take a class in the Michelin grade cooking school. He is sublime!

For those of us without professional training, it is often difficult to duplicate the dishes found in books authored by chefs. In this case I was both surprised and delighted to discover that most of the recipes were perfectly do-able in my not terribly technological kitchen and the final results really were as gorgeous as the photographs.
