4.0 out of 5 stars Fun activities at a great price.
A colorful, fun program for beginning students, especially for piano students. Includes activities to practice your existing knowledge of names of the piano keys, note names on the treble and bass staff, C major and G major scales, melodic intervals, musical terms, and counting in 4/4 or 3/4 time. No music theory instruction is given - just practice what you already know...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but limited
This game is good for the price---the first 3 games are good for beginners, the last 3 are a little more challenging. The games aren't real exciting, but good enough.

The packaging I saw recommended for ages 7+, which seems about right; students using this software will need to be able to read (the directions are not spoken). Very affordable!

3.0 out of 5 stars great for price, October 15, 2009

i've enjoyed using this in my piano studio, but have noticed one main problem. the theory is actually fairly advanced - key signatures, eighth notes and rests, intervals up to a seventh (maybe more), BUT, the graphics and animation (though way better than the Music Ace stuff) is more childish. My students who can actually do most of theory would not be interested in the graphics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Intro For Little Ones!, May 28, 2009

This is a clever little program that will keep the attention of your young ones - I recommend for 2+ to 4 as an entertaining program, ages 5-7 as an educational "introduction" to music with challenges. Computer/mouse operation. The delight it brings is worth the price!

3.0 out of 5 stars For the price, OK. But there's better stuff out there., September 28, 2009
This review is from: Music Games (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
I bought this to use with my piano students on our studio computer. The games are fine and have educational value. But compared to some of the other software out there, this CD feels kind of like an afterthought. It's a great price, and it does have some value. But don't expect tons of bells and whistles.

This product is a good tool for very young children to learn the piano keyboard and note names.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not What I Expected, December 26, 2008

The manufacturer says this is for "beginners of all ages" but the case says "ages 7 and up." It is definitely not for total beginners. The games require that you already know how to read music to some extent. This would be good for kids who are already taking music lessons, but it isn't going to teach music to a kid who doesn't know it yet. In my case I will have to put this game aside for several years because my 4 year old son cannot play the game at this point.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great theory program, June 12, 2010
This review is from: Music Games (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
I used this program with second grade classes. The students were very engaged in the various activities of the program. I presented this on my Smartboard and the lesson was a great success and reinforced concepts that we had studied throughout the year.

This game is great for teaching notes and chords, but once the download is complete, it is impossible to open and play the game. It takes longer to figure out how you wound up getting it open than is worth the aggravation.Music Games (Jewel Case)
