This is an excellent text for High School & College Levels,
By A Customer
This review is from: Algebra: Introductory and Intermediate (Paperback)
This text is well written and easy for students to follow. I would have given this book 5 stars except for a few proofreading errors. As of today, the solutions manual is not yet available, which would certainly support the text. This book can be used in consecutive classes for Into & Intermediate Algebra.

Very thorough and a very logical order of presentation,
By Maureen C. Hamilton (Natick, MA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Algebra Introduction To And Intermediate And Student Solutions Manual, Second Edition And H M Cubed, Second Edition (Paperback)
I used this book to teach my community college algebra I and II courses. I found it to be so logical in its presentation, that I quickly yanked my daughter out of her 7th grade math class (using the incredibly poor Connected Math Series -- see Mathematicallycorrect.com) and decided to home school her in math using this book. She is at the end of 8th grade and by following a program of 20 problems a night she is now completing 10th grade math. She now loves math and understands it thoroughly. There are enough problems to reinforce all concepts.

Well... I may not be able to write a text book but this one stinks!,

I am older than 30, and I just finished an Algebra 1 refresher, so I think I have enough of a grasp of the algebraic concepts to say this text and work book series stinks! The workbook solves the problem out correctly, and then simply states the answer all wrong. 5 blatant errors so far and we have only covered 2 chapters!
The text book has some really weird, confusing (stupidly) worded problems, and again I have found 2 proof errors so far. DVD series: Don't bother... The first DVD study guide set would not even play on my PC or TV DVD players. I thought it would be interactive (you work the problems plus lectures) like the Algebra 1 series, but unfortunately it is just a couple of instructors lecturing on a few limited problems. Save your money; skip the DVD's and take good notes in class. You will be much better off. The only reason I have this book now is because the class demands' I use it. If you can't trust (or sometimes understand), the text, then what good is it? |
