5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Math for Home Schoolers, May 25, 2009
This review is from: Algebra 1 A Teaching Textbook (Spiral-bound)
The series of Teaching Textbooks for upper grade math is excellent. As a mom and former public school math teacher, this book is a valuable instructor for difficult math concepts. The complete package helps the student move at a steady pace and receive instant feedback. It is also helpful to the parent who may feel a little rusty in algebra! This book is a true home school treasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars You can buy this cheaper directly from the manufactor., August 12, 2010
This review is from: Algebra 1 A Teaching Textbook (Spiral-bound)
THis is a wonderful textbook. I've taught my kids now for 9 years and these are a God send.. but for 200 dollars you can buy this directly from Teaching textbooks for 184.00 for the complete text with solutions, test, and cd's. I would buy it new and save the extra bucks. Not taking the risk on returns or damaged products. After all 200 bucks is 200 bucks and not pocket change. [...]

5.0 out of 5 stars CD's can only be installed on 2 computers, July 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Algebra 1 A Teaching Textbook (Spiral-bound)
Just wanted to give a "heads up" to all buyers: this is a GREAT program, but after the CD's have been installed twice, they won't work anymore. SO, if you're buying used, make sure the CD's have only been used once so you know you will be able to use them once--which means you won't be able to resell them. Also, some sellers aren't stating in their personal description that they are only selling the book and not the complete set like this page describes. SO, it's best to email the seller and make sure you know what you're buying before you buy. Twice I thought I was buying the complete set, and twice I received only the book. Thankfully, I was able to return both books and get my money back. But, the third time, I contacted the seller "philada9" and was told it was the complete set, so I bought it for $68. The sad part is Amazon allowed that seller to cancel my order so the seller could raise the price to $130. Remember, Algegra 1 sells brand new for $184 and can only be used twice, so why would you pay more than half that price when you're buying used? I suggest buying brand new from teachingtextbooks.com or christianbook.com

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, January 3, 2011
This review is from: Algebra 1 A Teaching Textbook (Spiral-bound)
My daughter likes the funny problems. I like that the cds provide an extra, more visual and auditory method of receiving the lecture if you need it. She normally just uses the text and only uses the cds if she needs help.

5.0 out of 5 stars can be installed on more than one computer, October 20, 2011
This review is from: Algebra 1 A Teaching Textbook (Spiral-bound)
Great program!! This can be installed on more than one computer. So far, I have installed it on 4 computers. You do have to call them after the 2 install but it has never been a problem. Great customer service.

5.0 out of 5 stars Installing CD's more than twice, September 2, 2011
This review is from: Algebra 1 A Teaching Textbook (Spiral-bound)
Thanks to one of the other reviewers for the advice about not being able to install the CD's on more than 2 computers. However, there's good news about that -- I checked it out on the FAQ's page of the Teaching Textbooks website, and here is what it says about that:

"Can I resell all my Teaching Textbooks?
A. Yes, you most definitely can. And there is absolutely no limit to the number of times our products can be resold. Just remember that if a Math 5, 6, or 7 product has already been used on more than two computers, the buyer will need to call our offices so we can quickly give him/her a new installation code."

So no worries if you buy used. And to me, this speaks volumes about their commitment to serving the customer, since they don't make any profit when a customer resells their product, and they have to go out of their way to accommodate that.

A caveat about my rating though: I have not used their Algebra 1 at all. I have used their Algebra 2 with my older child, who appreciated it so much that I'm considering replacing the expensive Algebra 1 curriculum I already own with the Teaching Textbooks course for my younger child. So, since Amazon requires a rating, I rated based on our experience with Algebra 2.
