5.0 out of 5 stars Spooky & Simple
My sons, 4-years-old and 22 months, LOVE this book. The pages alternate between graphic illustrations of spooky creatures (ghost, mummy, werewolf, etc.) and cute illustrations of the boy trying to dress scary for Halloween. We've borrowed this from the library twice and plan to buy for a Halloween present this year.

My 4 year old daughter and I checked out this story at Halloween from our local library. The cover was cute and engaging and we thought it would be fun to read together. My 2 grandsons love this book. We first saw it at the library and now we have to own it, because we can only check it out at halloween. We read it 3 times at the library and have read it every night this week. They were not scared of it. They are 4.5 and 19 months

When my daughter picked the book to read one evening, she was completely spooked and disturbed by some of the illustrations, and so was I. We talked about the images but she was clearly disturbed. We did not finish the story. While most of the illustrations are cute and engaging, the others border on horror flick interpretations of werewolf's, ghosts, Dracula's and other characters. I'm all for scary Halloween illustrations, but for my daughters age, I thought the illustrations were inappropriate. I could see it for a child over ten. I'm usually pretty liberal about books, but this one, although a cute story, is not appropriate for all ages. I would suggest parents review it first before sharing it with your children.
