Another cool (one time) Livetronica project - quintet out of the bay area. Guitar-bass-drums-turntables-vibes along with a host of samples and live trumpet. Its like coming home after a frenetic
New Deal or STS9
Artifact show, listening to this on your headphones and having the last drink as you call it a night..or start a journey into another realm. Chilled!!! The bassist and drummer hold the unit together. Laying some fierce bass lines while the drummer lays it phat, never too funky, just right...and like Tortoise - though these guys are more focused (accessible?) the presence of the vibes adds a neat ethereal element to it. Combining sonic textures akin to
Jah Wobble's Solaris - Live in Concert school of ambient dub with the jazz-funk aesthetics of CTI and a steady dose of breakbeats and grooves covering all grounds from Squarepusher
