A WISH COMES TRUE,
By Sesho "www.sesho.libsyn.com" (Pasadena, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Alice 19th, Vol. 4: Unrequited Love (Paperback)
Well, Alice Seno should be on cloud nine in "Unrequited Love", the 4th volume of the engaging Alice 19th series by Yu Watase. Why, you may ask? Because the boy she loves, Kyo Wakamiya, has declared his love for her, choosing Alice over her sister Mayura. The problem is that Mayura, who, by the way, has been possessed by Darva, the greatest practicioner of the dark arts of the Mara, has put a curse on Kyo. This curse of hate will kill Kyo if Alice ever says she loves him back. As you can see, this might lead to some conflict. And things just get more difficult because Kyo and Alice are destined to become the Neo Masters, powerful Lotis Masters who will destroy the threat of the Mara once and for all. Meanwhile, Mayura has set herself up as the invisible ruler of the city, Akira-style, with the help of some fellow Mara masters, just as some new allies begin to arrive to aid our heroes.
As you can tell, this has all the hallmarks of a arcane shojo manga: complicated love affairs, magic girls, and shouted generic attacks as they battle. But I like this series. Sue me. Because underneath, its really about all the tragedy that happens when people don't speak their hearts to others, mostly out of fear. If Alice had been straight up with her sister and Kyo from the beginning, none of the storyline would have happened (but then again, this series wouldn't exist). This volume was a little too heavy on the politics of love but it was still entertaining.

Something to Scream for,
By
This review is from: Alice 19th, Vol. 4: Unrequited Love (Paperback)
This volume kicks off from the last scene we see in the 3rd volume (the kiss). After that everything starts to become intense and really moving and shaking. Its an awesome volume that you just goes by fast and you will not stop reading until its over. Kyo is sweet as hell, I wish I could have a guy like that to moon over. AND FREI!!!!!!!! Oh god, he's giving Kyo a run because so far Frei is sooooo DEVINE. I got to parts where I was just screaming my head off at how romantic it can be (silent screams of course). That Alice is one lucky girl, two cute, handsome, loyal, and sexy guys just throwing themselves at her mercy. Makes me jealous. But yes. If you have the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd volumes, you have to get this one. BUY ALICE 19TH: UNREQUITED LOVE by YUU WATASE!!!!!!!!!!! you won't regret it. Not in a decade.

The Best volume so far,
By Lauren Edwards (Washington, DC United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Alice 19th, Vol. 4: Unrequited Love (Paperback)
Volume 4 of Alice 19th has got to be the best volume so far. It's not broken down into chapters, like the previous volumes and this is because there is too much going on. You are kept interested the whole time and I personally read this whole manga in one sitting. Here's why this volume is so great:
This volume I think is the turning point for the series. Here is when things get ALOT more darker Frey has gotten more serious..... thank goodness because he was becoming way to happy-go-lucky for me. Mayura is a psycho New Characters are introduced Some more light is shed on the mysteries of the Lotis Secret Society place My only complaint is that there is STILL NO EXPLAINATION to what Nyozeka is or where she came from. But I'll give Yuu Watse the benefit of the doubt and perhaps that will come later. Overall, I wouldn't pin this as strictly a shoujo manga. There's enough action to keep us action fans interested and it's also quite funny at times. Give this series a try!

Unsure about this book?,

This review is from: Alice 19th, Vol. 4: Unrequited Love (Paperback)
Hi,O before I start it says that my name is Stephen but it's not i just use my dad's credit cards for purcheses and such, haha, so yea my name is Toni, I'm a girl. Well what can I saw about this book, it was my favorite of the whole series actually. I love it so much because you see a more serious side of frey, and realize that he's not just a hot womanizing prick but a man that really does loves alice, and only wishes for her happiness. Kyo also makes his advances on Alice as well, he also finds out about his curse but not enough to kill him. He finds out when Billy (another Lotis master, and there is also a grl but im unsure of the name off hand.) tells him that he has a maram burned into him. Really though if your unsure about reading this series I recomend it I loved it, since i've already finished the series, really anything from Yu Watase is amazing! she's my favorite artist i love her work, i have read or in the middle of about 4 of her series and they are the best I've ever read so look for that name Yu watase, because i garentee that you'll love just as cmuch as me, well maybe not as much as because i get a little obsessed with things i lyk but u will enjoy it.

I'm a big fan of Watase's work. There's something enchanting in the way she portrays her characters, and Alice 19th is no exception.
I have to say when I first started this series with volume one, I almost felt that Alice was lacking something as a main character, but then as I've continued reading I've grown to love her character, and of course the gorgeous bishounen eye-candy of Frey and Kyo. The story features the seemingly standard love triangle and fantasy world shared by other Watase works (Ayashi no Ceres, FY) but it's perfect shoujo, and I highly recommend it to anyone remotely interested in the genre. I won't go too much into the plot but I will say the story will keep you entranced throughout - I promise ;P. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the story develops from here, and share the general feeling that it almost seems a pity that the series is almost over.

One of the Best Manga Ever!!,
By Rye Chan (Why do you want to know where I live?) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Alice 19th, Vol. 4: Unrequited Love (Paperback)
Book number 4 is the best in the series(so far)! There's a lot of emotion between Alice and Kyo, as well as Alice and Frei. The story moves along at a faster pace than the others, but it still keeps you an the edge of your seat, dieing of anticipation of what will come next. But be warned, there is some hentai in this volume. Mayura is found by other Mram Masters and is made their leader. Alice and Kyo also accept their responsibility as Neo-Masters of the Lotis. You also get to see a serious side of love in Frei toward Alice!(It's so cute!!)>.< The artwork by Watase is as good as ever and she leaves you waiting for for the next volume to come out, and you want it so badly, that you would kill to get it. *giggles*

This is an exellent addition to your Alice 19th collection. It just gets more exiting. Some parts are reviling so I dont recommend this book for young readers but the plot is fantastic. And just like always, Yu Watase's art work just sweeps me away. Also the romanance between Kyo and Alice is getting stronger. Too bad she cant return his love! Well, i shoulnt say anymore. just read this book and you'll never look back!

In this volume of Alice the 19Th Kyo and Alice become closer with the last seen kiss in the third book. Kyo shows his love for Alice and he is heartbroken that she does not say the same for him. Sadly she and him become true masters of the lotus words and Frey makes himself known with his ententions with Alice. If Kyo hurts Alice in any way Frey will take her with him. And poot Mayura has been possesed by the King of all darkness and there for is the Queen of all evil. Kyo and Alice are aided by a lotus master, but henchmen of Mayura that are masters of the Maram words are turning everyone that Kyo and Alice love against them! I cant wait for the next book.
