Book Description

June 2004
Alice in Bushland: Fact and Fantasy in the Bush Administration is a political satire based on Alice in Wonderland. Humorous fantasies where Alice meets Humpty Dumpty Rove, Compassionate King Bush, Mad Hatter Rumsfeld and other colorful characters are followed by fact sheets detailing "What Alice Didn't Know" about the Bush Administration. John Nichols, Washington Correspondent for The Nation, said that "Peggy is the Jon Stewart of fairytales, the Stephen Colbert of the fantastic...fantasies that are far more telling than the evening news." Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-WI stated, "...an imaginative and critical take on the Bush White House...Alarming and entertaining at the same time."

5.0 out of 5 stars Average Reader, August 23, 2004
This review is from: Alice in Bushland: Fact and Fantasy in the Bush Administration (Paperback)
Everything that I read is very well hidden from the average person. Just following news casts, newspaper and e-mail type news does not uncover many of the facts presented in your book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timely Book for this Election Year, August 22, 2004
By
K. Bishop (Washington DC) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Alice in Bushland: Fact and Fantasy in the Bush Administration (Paperback)
This book addresses a highly topical issue - the 2004 election -- through an imaginative and funny trip, using the Alice in Wonderland characters to define and identify the important issues facing voters, if the Bush Administration manages to hold on through an other election. The author touches the topics of medicare, deficits, environment, labor, the Patriot Act, among others. For anyone who hasn't made up his or her mind, the book is an easy way to review the issues and understand why so many Americans believe this is a pivotal election. Its an enjoyable venture into the world of politics for even those who normally don't venture into "wonderland".
