Biography

Every great production deserves a sequel – even if comes 35-plus years after the original.
In 1975, Alice Cooper joined forces with longtime collaborator and producer Bob Ezrin to record his first solo album Welcome to My Nightmare, a theatrical concept album about the nightmares of a young boy named Steven. Now, he’s followed Steven into adulthood and presents Welcome 2 My Nightmare, a new but… Read more in Amazon's Alice Cooper Store

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

If it weren't for Alice Cooper's onstage antics, Kiss, Marilyn Manson and Glen Danzig might have evolved into summery pop artists suitable for family picnics. Yet as Alice Cooper's Greatest Hits record attests, the grandfather of shock rock brought much more to the rock arena than boa constrictors and simulated decapitations. In addition to classic hard rock anthems like "I'm Eighteen," "No More Mr. Nice Guy," and "School's Out," Cooper unleashed rollicking barroom rockers like "Under My Wheels" and tugged at the heartstrings with cuts like "Desperado" and "Hello Hooray." In retrospect, his songs have more in common with the Who and the Faces than with Black Sabbath or Judas Priest. But his songs were filled with soaring choruses and grandiose horn embellishes that proved he could be larger than life both on and off the stage. --Jon Wiederhorn

5.0 out of 5 stars The singer's name was Alice, February 4, 2004

This review is from: Alice Cooper's Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This is a compilation album of songs from the Warner Brothers recordings of Alice Cooper(the band). After this album came out, Alice Cooper(the singer) left the band that was named after him. Or was he named after the band? Anyway, Alice Cooper the solo artist never made records as good as Alice Cooper the band did. These songs represent the height of Alice Cooper's career. I highly recommend this CD to fans of '70s rock.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Five Star Album That I Don't recommend!, August 4, 2004

This review is from: Alice Cooper's Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Yes I gave Alice Cooper's Greatest Hits 5 stars, and Yes I don't recommend you but this CD. Sure all of the Alice Cooper Band's hits are here, 'School's Out', 'Eighteen', 'Billion Dollar Babies', 'Muscle of Love', 'No More Mr. Nice Guy' etc. And all of those songs are excellent. But what is not included are the songs that really gave the Alice Cooper Band it's image and reputation, songs like 'Dead Babies', 'Black Juju', 'Halo of Flies', 'Hallowed Be Thy Name', 'Killer'. The essence of Alice Cooper are the strange and unusual songs, music that no one had even tried creating before.
If all you want are the hits off of the 5 original Alice Cooper band recordings for Warner Brothers then you are shortchanging yourself. There was so much more to Alice Cooper than the 12 songs presented here. Each album should be heard and experienced, instead of a 'Best Of', spend the extra dough to hear the whole albums of 'Love it to Death', 'Killer', 'School's Out', 'Billion Dollar Babies' and 'Muscle of Love'. You will not regret adding these stellar CD's to your collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Alice! ! ! !, January 29, 2006
This review is from: Alice Cooper's Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This is classic Alice Cooper. All of the greatest hits on one CD. However, I would love to see a greatest hits CD that includes all of the strange songs. Such as 'Dead Babies', 'Black Juju', 'Generation Landslide'. These are songs you wouldn't normally find on a Greatest Hits CD, yet they are the songs that launched Alice Cooper's career. If you want strange and bizarre, I recommend Alice Cooper's very first CD from 1969 'Pretties For You'. One song I would have included on this compilation is 'Tuesday Mueller'. Other than that, I would give this CD a 4 star rating and an excellent starting point for any new Alice fan.
