I love a good kids book! This is not a good one but a great one. I totally fell in love with the Finwip society and Alice Parker in particular.
The writing was very easy to read and i really enjoyed immersing myself in Alice's world.
This is a magical tale that is a must read for kids of all ages.
I will be reading the next in the series very soon.

I have always loved the fantasy genre, but will admit to being picky about what series I will actually take the time to read. I look for books that are well-written, plausible (even fantasy needs to be believable) and most importantly, I want stories with characters that aren't flat or boring. I am happy to say that Metamorphosis met and even surpassed my expectations.

From the moment I started reading this book, I actually found it rather hard to put down. The plot was engaging and carried enough suspense to keep me reading clear to the end, while the characters became almost like friends to me. I felt like I actually got to know Alice and her crew personally, which in my opinion is the ultimate aim of any fiction. I especially enjoyed the relationship between Alice and her brother, Thomas.

I don't want to give too much of the plot away, but I will say that I was also very impressed with the author's ability to create a new world that readers will want to call their own. This is a book that I can wholeheartedly recommend to kids and teens (or even adults if you like a good fantasy story).

This is a great read for children and children at heart. I know that my 11 year old is gonna love it.

The book is about a 13 year old girl that is about to go through a major change. She notices she is starting to great in school without even trying, which isn't helping with popularity. She has issues sleeping at night due to strange pains, and is having huge cravings for fruits and sugars. Lucky for her, she has her best friend Sarah and her brother Thomas to stand by her and give her the support she needs.

It is a magical read and also has a hidden message that it might not actually be that bad to be different and that everyone and everything may not be as it seems. It kept me interested from beginning to end and I can't wait to see what is in store in the next book.

I rarely give a book 5 stars but this one deserves them. The story unfolded at just the right pace. There were great descriptions of events and places that were just long enough to give a great picture but not long enough to become tedious. The character line up was interesting and true to live. One reviewer couldn't 'believe' the Grandfather for keeping his secret - I found it quite believable. There are all kinds in the world, maybe even a few Finwips.

My one regret regarding this book is that it took me so long to get around to reading it on my TBR list.
It came highly recommended by author friends and now that I have read it I can understand why. The book aimed at the younger spectrum of the YA genre is written in such a way that children and parents alike would love to read this. The story of Alice and her metamorphosis is a fun read with Alice as a strong little girl with problems with fitting in at school, having few but good friends, an older brother who does not recognize her existence and doting parents.
Her brother however does a 180 and her best friend sticks with her, her metamorphosis places her in danger and still she is a typical young girl. I love Alice and her human shortcomings, entering with her into a world, we all can only dream about. The first thing I did, after the end of the book was to go on Amazon to see if a second book is available. This is a book that needs to be in a series. An awesome series. I give this book a flying 7 *** *** * review.

Alice Parker's Metamorphosis, by Nicola Palmer, is a delightful tale of a young girl transitioning into her teen years. For Alice, though, the transition is a bit different. I won't spoil the magic of her transformation, but I will tell you that she is not as alone as she thinks she is at the time. Children will be able to relate to Alice feeling alone during stressful times only to be warmly supported out of nowhere. Alice's support system is as magical and wonderful as she is herself. Watch for minor characters in the early part of the book foreshadowing that support later!

The book is not all sunshine and beauty, however. As soon as she is warmly welcomed into her new world, Alice is sent to rescue a man from a dangerous situation. This adds tension to the story, but it's not too dark. This book is great for upper elementary kids, or preteens who need a break from dark paranormal or vampires.

I enjoyed reading this book. I am going to have to buy the following one now. It is well written, appealing to all ages I feel. It was very easy to get close to the different characters, and remember the feelings of being teased in school etc. The changes that Alice felt, and having the support of her best friend and others made it special. Finding out that one is different, and joining with others that are also, helps to make things easier. Well it is hard to write reviews for me, as I dont do it very often, but had to make the effort, since this is a very enjoyable book, and want to let others know it is worth reading.
