I don't know about others, but I thought Alice In Rapture wasn't as good as the first in the series. I've actually only read the first two, so my input might not be as good as those who have read more of Alice, but...

I absolutely loved the Agony of Alice. It was funny and moving, and Alice is such a special girl with a distinctively lovely voice. I could relate to her in so many ways and I'm amazed that Phyllis Reynolds Naylor remembers growing up so well. It's lovely that she has such a person as Alice inside her and brought it out so beautifully. I couldn't wait to rush to the library and find the next book!

Alice in Rapture was a bit disappointing because I don't think it had the same humour and personality of the first. I couldn't connect with Alice anymore because she's 11 and already has a boyfriend and worrying about french-kissing...And that's what the entire story focuses on. There was too much of kissing and too little of her first time babysitting, and although it's an important part of getting older, I think it could have been better.

Otherwise, it's still a worth a read, and I'm sure the other books in the series are much better. Alice is still as confused as ever and I think she makes a very wise decision at the end. It isn't boring (of course - Alice never is!) and very fun to read.

This is, yet another, great book by Phylis Reynolds Naylor! I relate to Alice a lot with her nervousness when it comes to kissing and all her feelings and situations. The characters tossed around a bit in the last book, start coming to life a little more, but we still don't know a lot about them. This story is chock-ful of emotions, new and not so new, and I highly recommend it.

It is a must for three girls to have a boyfriend when they enter the seventh grade. In this story, the three girls are best friends. One event in the story happens like this. Alice, the main character, invites her two friends to go with her to the beach with her dad. Alice's brother will be arriving later. Well, Alice hasn't had a new swimsuit, so her dad buys her a bikini. One of Alice's friends gets all the attention from the other boys, and she has a boyfriend!!! When Alice's brother arrives on Saturday, he says he has a surprise for Alice. Guess who it is?

The best part of the book are the personalities of the characters, especially Alice. I recommend this book to girls age 11-14.

I loved this book!I read 5 other books so far about the adventures of Alice.I've got to say,Phillis Naylor is an incrediable author!In my binder right now,i have Reluctantly Alice and her newest book.I just love them!I just wanted to say thanx to her because i can't stop reading!

This is an overall sweet book. As the second book in the excellent Alice McKinley series, ALICE IN RAPTURE, SORT OF picks up where the first book left off. In other words it chronicles Alice through her summer vacation after 6th grade, the summer that her father dubs the "summer of the first boyfriend." This was the first Alice book that I read (I did so at a book store while I was in New York, because I had nothing else to do), and I enjoyed it emmensly. I like it mostly because it's honest.

After Alice and Patrick get together everything isn't teriffic. Interesting, yes, but way more complicated than the way things were in the beginning, when they were just friends. Alice has to worry about what she eats (so that Patrick won't get any surprises when he kisses her), what an appropriate birthday present for a boyfriend is (what is Lucite, anyway??), and, in the end, whether or not being more than friends is worth all the strife (something I myself think about daily -- blech).

Recommended for all people who enjoy reading realistic books about girls growing up, and especially for anyone who has read and ejoyed any of the other Alice McKinley books.

It's one of the early Alice works (actually the second), but it's my favorite. Phyllis Naylor catches all the joys and pitfalls of being twelve and in the middle of a romance she doesn't know how to go farther with. Alice puzzles over such things as what to talk about when you're on the phone with a boy, whether you should kiss outside on the porch or not at all, and whether or not you should get your boyfriend a birthday present that you think he would enjoy: who knows if he has that record or book anyway?

I'm only thirteen - a year older than Alice in this novel - but I found through its frank discussions it answers a lot of the questions I had. It's an Alice book not to go unnoticed. That's for sure.

This was an awesome book! I recomend other people to read it or have someone read it to them. It tells about how a pre-teen deals with problems in funny and strange, yet serious ways.
It's funny parts include Alice's friend Pamela loosing her swim suit top at the beach, having Pamela's boyfriend find her up lift spandex ahh bra and Alice leaving her purse in the car on a date. A serious part was when Alice wanted to break up with her boyfriend and be "Special Friends." If you read this I hope you enjoy it alot

It's the summer before seventh grade, and Alice is worried about what junior high will bring. At least she has Patrick, her very first boyfriend; Alice's best friend Pamela tells her and their other friend Elizabeth they absolutely *can't* start the school year without one.

Although she's reassured by having a boy at her side, Alice finds there are new worries that come along with him. Raised by her father and older brother since she was a preschooler, Alice constantly wonders about things like dating, and wishes she had a mother to keep her from saying or doing the wrong thing.

But, as Alice learns, even her friends with mothers make mistakes and have embarrassing things happen to them...like the time the boys get their hands on Pamela's special new bra designed to maximize cleavage. And - through her summer job babysitting three-year-old Jimmy - Alice learns that she does have a lot of knowledge, which she can put to use making a child's life better.

Readers will enjoy Alice, who is just a regular girl like themselves, as they root for her throughout her adventures.
