I was really excited to hear this movie was coming out. Even more when I saw there was a Wii game for it too! I was hooked after 10 minutes! I got it before the movie came out too since I pre-ordered. I played it every day after work for like 3 weeks. The game follows along with the movie story line. Basically a mini-movie with games throughout, this Wii offering has both good and bad qualities.

The game is very plot-driven. Based on the new Alice in Wonderland movie by Tim Burton, the story revolves around Alice, who once again tumbles down the rabbit hole 10 years after she does as a child. In the interim Wonderland has been plundered by the Red Queen and her evil minion the Jabberwocky. Alice helps the Underland Underground Resistance -- including the Cheshire Cat, the Dormouse, the Mad Hatter, the March Hare and the White Rabbit -- fight to save Wonderland. Game players help Alice battle the Red Queen's forces and find the famous Vorpal Sword.

Each Underland character gives players a special ability: The Cheshire Cat turns you invisible or makes objects appear or disappear, the Dormouse gives you sword skills and makes you lightning quick, the Mad Hatter lets you create optical illusions by lining up objects, the March Hare lets you use your mind to throw objects, and the White Rabbit lets you alter time or slow your enemies.

Options include setting the SFX, music and voice volume; turning subtitles on or off; choosing the game language (English, French or Spanish); and changing the camera axis. You can choose whether to play alone or with a friend.

Pros: The story is interesting and creative, and there are lots of levels of play.

Cons: The play is pretty basic fighting for the most part. You travel through Alice's adventures, stopping occasionally to fight off the bad guys. Visuals are odd and distracting, with awkwardly rendered 3-D objects and figures. The colors used are not pleasing to look at, gaudy and laser-like, with little subtlety. It's hard to understand what the characters say, so it's good there are subtitles you can turn on. Overall the game isn't up to the standards of other Wii offerings.

I got it before the movie came out too since I pre-ordered. I played it every day after work for like 3 weeks. The game follows along with the movie story line. Each different character you encounter along the way has their own ability which is really cool. They help you earn things through out the game as well as advance in the game. You fight against the Red Queen's army most of the game. I found myself stuck only once because my Wii decided to freak out on me but that had nothing to how with the actual game. I love this game and have recommended it to people. If you liked the movie you should defiantly get the game. You won't be disappointed.

This game has completely frozen 3 times on my Wii...something that no other game has ever done. I didn't know the Wii was even capable of freezing because I've never had a problem with it. However, when the gameplay works properly, it's a lot of fun. You play as all of the different characters in the movie - Dormouse, White Rabbit, March Hare, Mad Hatter, and Cheshire Cat - as you guide Alice through Underland on her journey back home. As a lover of the story of Alice and the movie as well, I really enjoy this game. However, the glitchiness is frustrating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Leave it to Disney to improve a classic into a masterpiece, August 30, 2010

This review is from: Alice In Wonderland (Video Game)
The video game "Alice in Wonderland" is based on the 2010 Tim Burton film of the same name. Those looking for a gmae that simulates the original Disney version of Alice in Wonderland should look to the old Gameboy Color Game. This game follows a grown up Alice as she returns to Underland to stop the wicked Red Queen and the Jabberwocky from destroying the White Queen and her followers.

Story: The story follows the movie to an extent. Instead of playing Alice and directly playing the scenes from teh film, players are given different Underland Characters to be: The White Rabbit, The March Hare, The Dormouse, The Mad Hatter and finally the Cheshire Cat. Each character is tasked with guiding Alice to find and return the Vorpal Blade to the White Queen. Simple enough, right? Add in the fact that the Red Queen is constantly sending soldiers to kidnap Alice, and it makes for a bit of a sticky situation.

Gameplay: The controls are easy to pick up. Players utilize the Wii Mote and the Nunchuck for this. The nunchuck is primarily used for movement and switching characters while the Wii Mote is used to skip movies, use special moves and make the menu selections. The game follows a simple pattern of "Go here, fight x amount of soldiers" find the cake or fishsalver to correct Alice's size, and move on. Also worth noting is that each character has a special ability.
The Dormouse is an excellent fighter.
The WHite Rabbit can speed up or slow down time
The March Hare is good at telekenesis.
The Cheshire Cat can make things visible or invisible.
The Mad Hatter can alter reality to open doorways and such.
Each character is needed in the quest to retrieve the Vorpal Blade from Salazan Grum. One major difference from the DS Version that I noted is that Alice knows how to take care of herself. In the DS version, she often needed help climbing or jumping. In the Wii version, Alice can do such things for herself. She even knows when to try and hide from the card soldiers.

Visuals: The visuals in this game are stunning. Wii games have always been considered cartoony when compared to the 360 or PS3, and this game does have some cartoony graphics. But it fits with the style of Underland and Tim Burton's visuals. Also, the characters look a lot like their film counterparts: in fact, the Mad Hatter looks an awful lot like Depp. Some characters, though, like the enemy soldiers are just similar looking with maybe a weapon swap. But it works, because I'm usually to busy fighting to scrutinize the soldiers.

Difficulty: The game for me has not been difficult. I mean, it's not as hard as some of the old school Disney Games (Darkwing Duck, anyone?) But it has its challenging moments: The Bandersnatch Battle, the Guards that can kill you in one or two hits, defense missions, etc. But for the most part, the side missions that you're given (usually by the Tweedle bros) are actually fun and pretty easy.

All in all, I rate this product about five stars. I can't say the game is too short because I don't sit with a game until I finish it. I'm more of a casual gamer and would just like to sit down with a game and complete it at my own pace. Others have said the game is very short, so use judgement if you're planning on buying this game. I personally like it but then again, I'm a little mad......I think we all are in Underland.

4.0 out of 5 stars Alice in Wonderland on Wii, May 10, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Alice In Wonderland (Video Game)
Hi Fellow Wii owners/players;
I have not seen this movie yet though!!! My hubby,Bear, bought this brand new,for me at Gamestop game store."Alice in Wonderland" -game was great. I can't say ;"stupendous",but great all around. It is a quest type game. You have puzzles you need to figure out.Use of Wii remote controller & nunchuk, are great! Not just sitting there, clicking away. You need to use motion movements a lot :-}.Battle scenes that you will learn quickly how to advance in this game.Storyline is kooky, fits theme for original movie Walt Disney made. The graphics are great,I compare to all my Wii games--not my PS3 system games,as they are in a category of their own.If you don't play this type of game often~then you will thoroughly enjoy this game, and it may be quite challenging to you. Each person has their own skill levels for each category of games.what may seem simple to me,may not to be simple to another player. The skill level of the quest/puzzles is about a ranking of 1 to 10,I give it skill level 6.5 ranking. Only because some of it was way to easy to figure out for me.The battle scenes, were great, too.Graphics well done! Not once did I freeze up,or see a glitch{sometimes when a game has lots details of movement/battle scenes they tend to glitch/freeze up/delay}. I seem to be increasing my skills in these types of games. I refer to myself as a semi-pro level-not hardcore yet,one day I will see myself as hardcore gamer :-} I am a late bloomer in gaming, but sooo hooked on Wii & PS3 games.I do play these games until I solve/finish them. I don't play any games in between them. When I finish a game, then I play games that are not quest, but easy to pick up where I left off,and no notes need to be made-games downloaded from Wii store or bought games.I'm trying to say, when I play games like:Zelda series-{Demon Hunter-Dragon Age are waiting for me to play them}-they take a lot of time to complete them. But because I am hooked on these types of games,I seem to pick up on other games,to figure out things quicker. It's how I based my rating on my game skills. This was a great play! was a great game to play, and I will replay this again in future no problem.I did complete it it almost 100%,I have some chests out there I completely missed.I won't say how I know I missed them, don't want to spoil it for anyone. So, if you like fun, great battle scenes,puzzles,storyline-this is a game for you! I can't compare it to the movie release ,as I have not seen it yet.I rarely go to movie theaters, always someone tall,or wearing something I can't see around.I wait for them to come out,go to blockbuster, and rent them.
****I NEVER use game guide books~nor go to game sites for cheats.I buy a game/or gifted to me,I go to their site to register it.Then I do get emails/updates on them.Mostly my PS3 games,I do go to chats to talk about it with others,as they are in a category on their own.You need to seek assistance at times on that system.Just trying to help you understand my review.****
I'm A tad nervous,as I am disabled, and I do tend to babble on-sure you have noticed.BUT-good side of being disabled,is,I have time to play long quest games~days-weeks-hours after hours at a time.I have woken up in my game chair countless times heh heh heh...fun part of being a gamer I think.

5.0 out of 5 stars i recommend buying this game for kids and adults, September 18, 2010

my daughter and i (mother) have the wii game and we absolutely love it. we completed it all several times and would do it again and again. each time it can be challenging depending on what it is. the battles and tasks are not simple everytime we do it, even though we know what to do. you can change to whichever character you want (white rabbit, march hare, mallyumkit, mad hatter and chesire cat)at anytime and use their special powers once you get to where they are. as you go through the game you destroy grassesand other objects, open treasure chests, kill flying pests and squash mushrooms to get "points". you collect chess pieces and buy the special powers with your points at certian locations as you go along in the game so its not all up front when you start playing. you get clues from short animations that include all the characters in the movie but can skip through it. you can add or drop other players easily. there are many different scenes to get through to find the vorpal sword but can get turned around easily so you can pull up a map at anytime to get to your objective. red knights appear at different times and you can switch to different characters to battle them with different outcomes. the graphics are not excellent but are very good. overall, this is a great game, just like the movie. we have had it for quite some time and never get bored.

My kids (13 & 16) say they like how you can play different characters. They also like how each character has a special power. According to them, the graphics are okay - nothing special- and the skill level varies. Considering that I purchased this during a special promo, for $9.99, free shipping, well worth the money spent, and it allowed me to give them this game for Christmas - taking into account my current situation, I wouldn't have been able to buy a wii game for them for Christmas if it wasn't for this promo, so a big thanks to Amazon.
