A wonderland of a musical!,

This review is from: Alice in Wonderland: A Jazz Musical (Audio CD)
I'm listening to this stunning piece of music while reviewing it. I'm also the first one to write a review on "Alice In Wonderland - A Jazz Musical", and I'm very happy to be the first. At last, someone has to share feelings with other costumers about this unique musical. From the 1998-1999 season, this little musical comes from the Northwest Children's Theater & School. The idea (and a very original one, I must add) is to combine Jazz music with the classic story by Louis Carroll. The music to the musical score was written by a very talented Jazz player named Ezra Weiss. The lyrics are written by the no-less talented Sarah Jane Hardy, and the result is simply charming! I've never been a freak of Jazz, but I must say that in this case, I'm very impressed. This type of music is warm and quite personal, in my opinion. All the singers are well-trained, especially the one who plays the Queen Of Hearts. Also, I like every song where Alice (Annabel Cantor) is participating in, but all the singers are great and the songs are entertaining and gives you almost an hour of Alice's journey in Wonderland through Jazz. I bet it was not an easy task for the composer, and I'm glad to say he accomplished this goal with a success. Originally, I bought this cast recording for my sister's birthday, now I'm loving it no less then she! It took three long weeks until I got it in the mail, but it was worth the wait. One of my favorites musicals of all time, and one of my favorites stories, in general. If you like Jazz, and musicals - you can't go wrong when purchasing this CD. Listen to it, and enjoy every moment. Feel the rhythm!
