About the Author

Lewis Carroll, an English mathematician, photographer and novelist, is best remembered for his masterpieces, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, published first in 1865, and its sequel Through the Looking Glass, published in 1871. Born Charles Lutwidge Dodgson in 1832, he was the eldest son and third child in a family of seven girls and four boys.

He grew up in an isolated country village far from the burgeoning industrial development that was transforming Britain. After being ordained a deacon in 1861, he chose never to marry. His stories about Alice were invented to amuse Alice Liddel and her sisters, the daughters of a close associate. These timeless classics are enjoyed as much by adults as by children. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was an immediate and enduring success and has been translated into more than eighty languages.

I totally disagree with the previous reviewer. How can you blame it on the audiobook publisher if you are too uninformed to know the appropriateness of a classic like Alice in Wonderland for children!?!?!? This is a fantastic, and yes hardly abridged, version of the book. Read marvelously and entertainingly by Sally Field. It was over TOO SOON for me and my 10 year old.

My daughter enjoyed Alice In Wonderland so much by listening to Sally Fields read the book. Sally is so talented and throws her voice in amazing ways. A rendition of the story that she will never forget.

Item was never described as 2 discs, however item is a 2 disc set. And, nowhere do they list the run time, but I've got run time at 2.1 hrs! That is way too much for a 3 1/2 year I bought it for. That's alot for most adults! Title claims abridged, but I can't imagine what they left out if the run time is that long. It was going to be a b-day present but now I don't know what to do since I can't return it. Should never have been listed as a children's book!!! Very frustrated!
