Potential Anita Baker competitor, but was crushed under weight of Baker's sudden early 80s success, October 17, 2007
This review is from: Alicia Again [CASSETTE] (Audio Cassette)
Rare, non-CD-available album from female lead of 70s/80s R&B/funk group One Way. Possessing a deep voice (not nearly as much so as Baker, but still strong), she uses it on a few different styles of music, including disco tunes like "I Found Love At A Disco", funk "Reggae Or Rock And Roll" and the beautiful ballad "When Love Starts To Go."
Note to potential buyers: This is not available as a CD, most LP's are gone, and though there may be a few hundred cassettes (which really isn't that many when you think about it), many of these cassettes were either produced defectively or have deteriorated over 26 years of never being unwrapped. I know this because I've bought at least 5 copies from a collector who managed to get his hands on about 50 copies or so, and each one has been problematic in one way or another. At best, you might find one with moderately muffled sound quality, at worst (and more likely), it will be scratchy, sound like it's underwater, or cause your tape player to jam.
