I really enjoyed this book so much that I sent Stacy-Deanne a fan letter! The book got interesting each time I read it. I suggested it to all my friends. I admit that it should have included more divas like Tamia and Ciara, but the book is a still very good. I loved the pictures! I am hoping that the authors(who are also divas)do a follow up for this. I wish them all the best and everyone should get this book!

If you're a fan of Alicia Keys, Ashanti, Beyonce, Destiny's Child, Jennifer Lopez, or Mya, then you will find this a must have for your book collection. The author provides a chronological account of each of their careers as well as provide photos of the artists.

Divas of the New Millennium was a truly exciting read. It's exciting as it takes you through some of today's prominent stars life during the ups, downs, good times and struggles. It brings forth realization to see the person behind stardom and show yes stars are human. It great read for all ages and I recommend this book to everyone.

When I was a teenager, music soothed my soul and helped me through a lot of ups and down when I was growing up. Like most kids, I had idols that I looked up to. Teen magazines about young music stars, such as Right On! and The Beat, fed my hunger for information - but only to a point. Even after thumbing through reams of pages, I felt I never knew enough.

Divas of the New Millennium by Stacy Deanne and other contributors brings back colorful memories of these days. The writers deliver a book jam-packed with information, but it never overwhelms you. Divas focuses on some of today's top female artists - Alicia Keys, Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez, just to name a few.

I enjoy the book's positive focus. It gives you a bird's eye into these women's lives, families and fans. Deanne wrote these stories as if she had sat down for a private chat with several of her closest friends. She and the other contributors wrote this book with special care, helping you get to know the real persona of your favorite female entertainer. Divas is well-written and very detailed, but you feel as if you're reading short stories rather than one-dimensional accounts of each artist's life.

If you're like me, you'll find this book hard to put down. It poignantly profiles each phenomenal woman. I recommend Divas for anyone wishing to learn about high-achieving women and the attributes that propelled them to acclaim - success that most of us can only dream about.

Divas of the New Millenium is a must read. I believe every if not most fans of R&B (or not) should get a copy of this book. It gives give you great background info of the stars and the music we love so much. Up until I read this book, I was ignorant and had no idea the struggles some of these artists went through before they got to where they are to today, and that makes it so much easier to appreciate their music. Thumbs up to the author "Stacy Deanne" for a job well done. I'm looking forward to reading her next masterpiece!

In Divas of the New Millennium, readers get an insider's view of some of today's brightest stars! The background information on Alicia Keys mentions her childhood years in "Hell's Kitchen" an area in New York. A biracial child, Alicia is encouraged to embrace her Italian, as well as, her African American heritage. A very focused individual, Alicia finishes high school at sixteen and receives a scholarship from Columbia University.

Ashanti is born to Kincaid and Tina Douglas on October 13, 1980. Her mother enrolls the hyperactive Ashanti in dance classes at an early age. During her childhood, Ashanti also enjoys running track, modeling and singing. She is awarded a role in 1989's "Polly," and later works at the Black Spectrum Theater.

Beyonce' Knowles burst onto the national scene as part of Destiny's Child (Beyonce', Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland), but the group has performed previously with the Girl's Tyme group. Although the group is popular in Houston, their first big break comes when they perform on "Star Search." After they lose the competition, Matthew Knowles, Beyonce's father, becomes the co-manager.

And then there's Jennifer Lopez or J.Lo, one of the most popular actresses and singers of the past decade. Truly a pioneer for the Hispanic culture, J.Lo infuses R&B/Hip-Hop with Spanish vibes. Her biggest break is a spot as a dancer on the comedy show, "In Living Color."

The last diva is Mya Harrison, born October 10, 1979 in Washington, DC. Dancing in the reflecting pool between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, two year old Mya astonishes her parents who enroll her in ballet school. Mya also enjoys hip-hop, tap dancing, and she even tries her hand at fashion design. In 1996 Mya meets Dru Hill and decides to turn her singing talent into a career.

All these divas struggle and overcome great odds, but they never compromise their dignity. A very insightful read!!

Alicia Keys, Ashanti, Beyonce, Destiny's Child, Jennifer Lopez & Mya: Divas of the New Millennium is a quick and interesting read about a hand picked group of authors crowned divas. Featured artists include Beyonce, Destiny's Child, Ashanti, Alicia Keys, and Mya (yes Mya who hasn't really had many hits this millennium). What about Missy? Okay, on to the actual text. Divas of the New Millennium features a section dedicated to each particular artist. The information on each artists details their career from the early stages to 2005.

Each section is basically an artist profile for the particular artist. The information in each section for the most part seemed to be comprised of past interviews, news items and past televised segments and/or print features. The book seems very well researched. There is very little new or exclusive in the book. All of the basics are here, albums released, appearances, awards won, movie appearances. That being said, Divas of the New Millennium is probably a good read for the new fan or someone who knows very little about the featured artists. This book would be a great addition to a youth library collection. The information about the "divas" is very flattering and highlights how these women could be considered role models.

From a technical stand point, the resolution on some of the images featured in the book are rather blurry, especially the picture of Beyonce on the front cover, and the J-Lo picture on the back cover. Based on published press information the book is a top seller so perhaps this will be corrected in future editions.

I just completed reading "Divas of the New Millennium". This book changed the way I felt about some of the singers who were profiled in the book. Oftentimes you hear so many rumors about people that it is hard to know what is true or not. I enjoyed this book and felt that it gave a real clear, more indept look into the lives of those we know so well through their music but not so well outside of the music world. This book introduced us to their foundations, their beginnings, some of their failures in the beginning of their careers and how they started. If you are looking to start a music career this book will give you good insight into the music world. I enjoyed getting to know the "Divas of the New Millennium" through the eyes of Stacy and the other writers. I rate this book a 4.5 because it was well written and very organized. It just left out Mary J. Blige, with my number one singer included it would have been five stars. Please pick up this book if you want to know the real deal on these beautiful ladies.

I can't say enough about this book. I heard it was good but it wasn't until I read it and I witnessed the hard work that's been put into it that I can see that this book is truly one of its kind.

This is not only an interesting and fun read but one heck of a reference book for anyone interested in these ladies' lives in and out of the music business. I thought I knew everything about a few of these women but I got some surprises. " Divas of the New Millennium " is an intelligent read filled with fun and more facts than you can imagine. You may think you know everything about these stars but the authors will prove you wrong. This was an amazing read. I recommend it to anyone who loves to read whether they like music books or not. I look forward to more work from Stacy, Natasha and Kelly.

This the first book that has all of my favorite lady singers in it. I was so glad to see a book out about Ashanti. She is my favorite singer in the world. I found the book very exciting and helpful. It's more like a musical dictionary than anything else. I really loved this book and I learned a lot about my favorite singers.
