5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling Science Fiction/Fact
This book was an excellent read. The Mr. Farrell is obviously expert in the science behind the story (as is demonstrated by the extensive references provided in the appendix) and has crafted a compelling and insightful compilation of current alien research into the fabric of the tale. 1.0 out of 5 stars This book is intended as a shill for the UFO movement
I made the mistake of buying this based on the positive reviews. What this book really is is an effort to explain UFOs in a work of fiction. Nothing wrong with that. EXCEPT the author does not know how to tell an interesting story or write in a way that makes this seem other than an explanation-of-everything conspiracy theory. This book has uninteresting characters...

This book was an excellent read. The Mr. Farrell is obviously expert in the science behind the story (as is demonstrated by the extensive references provided in the appendix) and has crafted a compelling and insightful compilation of current alien research into the fabric of the tale. The characters were interesting and well developed and the conflicts were believable. I think this is the author's first novel, and I hope that he provides a sequel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and informative, March 17, 2005
This review is from: Alien Log (Paperback)
I would have to say after reading the book, where's the sequel?

One of the most creative things about the work was it's ability to include just enough of the alien/UFO community's beliefs and theories along with factual evidence to support them, without drawing the reader away from the action of the story.

The story was very compelling, the characters well developed and the action kept you reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well scientifically researched., September 2, 2005

Alien Log, a novel by Dr. Robert Farrell
Meticulously scientific, well researched novel of the case for Intelligent Life in the Universe, and particularly covering UFOs and "Aliens" and their probable origin and purpose in communicating, interacting and dealing with humankind. It is a delightful read for anyone interested at all in these compelling subjects. It also has an extensive bibliography, to help you extend your own research into these subjects. The fiction is very well handled and dialog between characters helps to enrich the novel with the science behind it.

4.0 out of 5 stars To boldly go where no man has gone before, June 29, 2011
This review is from: Alien Log (Paperback)
The scope of this series is breathtaking - nothing less than an in depth analysis of galactic civilizations, a history of alien contacts and the future place of humanity in the interstellar community. The author has labored tirelessly under extremely difficult conditions. According to conventional wisdom just touching this subject is reason enough to be called a crackpot just as the mere mention of flying machines was reason enough to be called a crackpot a couple of centuries ago. Evidence of actual UFO encounters is scattered all over the place and usually buried under a mountain of disinformation. In addition, even if all the information would be freely available and free from any distortion, the subject would remain extremely daunting - a cave man trying to understand things like cars, TV, computers, aircraft, modern philosophy, economy and politics would have a much easier task. The mind boggling difficulty of the task explains the uneven results. Parts of the series are brilliant such as the description of military paranoia, organization of secret bases, covert actions, aircraft and UFO crashes and the dilemmas faced by aliens who may try to interact with us. On the other hand some dialogues are too long winded; some ideas are farfetched (for example the Big-bang twist proposed by the author), some characters are quite conventional and not all the details and consequences of advanced technology are thought trough. But the bottom line is this: it is very hard to find a more informative or more interesting series of books on UFO and alien encounters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, June 26, 2011
This review is from: Alien Log II (Perfect Paperback)
Robert Farrell has done it again!! This book picks up right where the first one left off and just takes you on a wild ride. The story line has the ability to make you believe that there is just so much more out there. I personally cannot wait for the 3rd book to come out and I hope someone is smart enough to make this into a movie. Great Job!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Alien Log II, June 25, 2011

I liked the original Alien Log. I found Alien Log II even better. It follows the original nicely, but does not depend on one's reading the original for enjoyment.
