3.0 out of 5 stars Not Wii resort bowling... March 27, 2010

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
As much as I like Wii resort bowling, I decide to give this a spin. The 'strange character' competition does add a fun level to it, and they did fashion it much like modern games where you unlock features as you go. Graphics are quite nice and creative. My only complaint is that when you bowl the ball, it simply goes straight down the aisle unless you use the remote to 'steer' or 'maneuver' it along the way. In Wii Resort the good or bad habits you have with throwing convey in the ultimate path of the ball, usually near the end of the aisle, making it just a little more like real life bowling.

If you can adapt to the 'ball steering' deal (which I guess is present in other games) then you'll enjoy this. If you're hoping the bowling experience was more like real life, you'll be a little disappointed like me, but overall the crazy features like spiking the other person's throw do add a completely new fun-twist to the picture.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quirky fun April 6, 2010

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This isn't Wii Bowling. It's a lot more complicated and there even is a backstory. In AMBL, you are bowling to save Earth and other planets from an evil, Dark Queen. You bowl against humans, aliens and monsters in an effort to stop the Dark Queen from destroying planets. Weird? Yes. Fun? Yes.

You start out as humans but the monster/alien characters are unlockable and there are bunch specific enhancements, like the Earthquake, which makes your opponents lane shake. Each character has their own super-power that, when activated, helps in knocking down pins. There is a campaign (the bulk of the story), versus mode, two-player mode and you can even play solo. Oh, and there even is a Turkey shoot! The controls allow you to put some spin on the ball and the characters are transparent so you can aim a bit better.

It's quirky and gets a lot of replay from me.

4.0 out of 5 stars wacky bowling August 2, 2011
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This is a great game! It's a little more challenging than Wii Sports Resort bowling. And, there's a few locations to bowl at-give your eyes a little change of scenery. There are also power-ups to make the game interesting; one example is the 'Earthquake"-makes the opponent's lane shake.
