I was wondering how great Mugler's Alien is because reviews contain positive raves. I was torn between this and something completely opposite, Narciso Rodriguez's "For Her", but decided on a fresher, younger, greener smell (Alien).

The first impression of the top note is violet--not flower, but what the color violet would smell like. Cool. Purplish. I also smelled big purple grape and envisioned an icy, frosted jar of grape flavored Kool-Aid. Supposedly, there's also menthol in there.

The warm vanilla and woodsy amber smell opens up with a sweet-floral smell for the heart. I know people rave about the jasmine, but I didn't really get a strong wiff of it at least on my body chemistry. It fades off with a rich woodsy, warm,sambac jasmine (it smells waxy like the inside of a Bali temple) -amber glow which lingers as the base note.

If you go outside into the cold (NYC wintertime, 35 degrees farenheit, the opening note really crisps up and permeates around the wearer-- the scent is noticeable all around you, even a dab on the wrist).

It's amazing because it starts out a cool, young, vibrant spring-like scent...very purple or green (without vetiver like in Chanel no. 19), but towards the end, Mugler's Alien transform into a warm musky scent.

For those like me who prefer a perfume's comparison, to other similar scents...

I was amazed because the first note smelled exactly like Ungaro's Ungaro perfume (the one that came in a flashy box with a lip, and the packaging is shaped like a U), except Mugler's Alien has really impressively long staying power whereas Ungaro fades in the first 30-minutes and doesn't evolve into anything else beyound that sweet, cool, crisp violet opening.

At the very end, Alien smells like a muted, less waxy (less sambac jasmine and less woods) version of Givenchy's Ange ou Demon.

I am an avid Thierry Mugler fan. My first scent by Thierry Mugler was Angel and I get compliments on it 10-12 hours after I have put it on. I was not sure that I would like Alien but I will have to confess that I wear it as much as I do Angel. They are two very different scents but enjoyable to wear.Alien By Thierry Mugler For Women. This perfume has a very unusual yet very pleasant scent. It definitely makes you stand out. I'm not very good at describing scent palette, so this is all I have to say about it.

I love the scent of Thierry Mugler's Alien. I had a sample spray from the perfume counter, and fell in love with the scent. Unfortunately, what I purchased in good faith as new, is an original bottle that has been tampered with and refilled, then reinserted into original packaging that has also been tampered with. And the stuff has a horrible scent. True, you can smell something of what it is meant to be, but it is definitely not Thierry Mugler's scent!!! I sprayed one spray to try it out last night, and the room where I sprayed it still stinks of bad perfume. What's worse is that you cannot return this stuff. I just tried and because it is a flammable liquid, you cannot return it to Amazon. This is not only a product problem, it is illegal to market counterfeit items. Someone at Amazon needs to take this seriously. The number on the box that is supposed to authenticate the perfume has been covered with thin strips glued to the box. The bottle also has an area deliberately scratched out. I love Amazon, but I will definitely be careful about buying these kinds of items from them in the future. Not only am I very disappointed, but I have clearly bought criminal goods against my knowledge. Don't buy this product...head to your local department store, and get the real deal. Caveat emptor!!!

I have been wearing Alien for more than a year now. I absolutely love this fragrance on me, and it is so potent that i only need to spray once in the morning and it last all day. When I close to running out of my last bottle, I decided to purchase a new bottle off Amazon. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING! From the first time I applied from this new bottle I knew something was wrong. The key notes were faint, there was a heavy alcoholic air to it, and it didn't last. I knew right away it had been diluted with alcohol. I have reported this to Amazon, as they were the seller, and fortunately they were, because I was offered a replacement or a refund. I'm not sure the process would have been as smooth with other suppliers. Please note, fluids are considered hazardous materials and are not returnable.

Wife likes fragrance. That is all that matters.

Let me start by saying that I do not wear much perfume. I am very particular in what I like (I do not care for anything too flowery, too musky, too sweet or too strong). I like other reviewers, wasn't sure if I cared for the scent at first. It seemed a bit heavy and strong. Then after an hour or so, I loved it!!! It is a very intriguing scent that leaves you wanting more!

I love this perfume from the Angel collection. I've gotten so many compliments on it and people always comments how good it smells.

I purchased the $2.49 sample of Alien along with my order for Agel; Oh my goodness this is SO sexy! I'm talking a base,raw oder is in there that can cause some to not like it but I gotta tell ya I think it's very sexy...

I really like this perfume, and I'm torn between giving it a 4 and a 5. It's sexy, but also a little youthful smelling, but not too young. Hard to describe, but I know I've had it complimented already the first time I wore it and I really like it so I'm happy with the purchase. I'll agree with earlier reviewers, it has good staying power which is pretty important in a good perfume!

Giving a perfume review seems a little silly to me, because it's really all about the smell.
