Alien Resurrection is simply superb!,

This review is from: Alien Resurrection (Video Game)
Fox Interactive and Argonaut have done a praiseworthy job of bringing the second Aliens title to the Sony Playstation. Make no mistake about it - Alien Resurrection is a superbly crafted game, it's intense and atmospheric, possessing in spades the vital ingrediants that any definitive Aliens game requires. The graphics are excellent for the PSX's capabilities, the sound FX and ambience are spot on, the AI is impressive, the weapons beefy, and the Aliens suitably nasty. With ten huge levels of xenomorph-blasting action and some very nice Half-Life-style scripted sequences cutting into the action, this is one game that no Playstation-owning Aliens fan should be without. The ONLY reason I've not given it 5 stars is due to the somewhat fiddly control system - but even that can be overcome with practice and time.BUY IT NOW!!!

Almost as good as Quake II,

Yes, the controls are hard. Quake II had the best configuration but there are six different settings from which to choose and after the first day you'll get used to them. BUT on that first day I found myself playing the same levels 8 or 9 times just trying to survive! It was fun, it was very scary, but it was just too damn hard! So, I highly recommend that you do as I did right from the start: Set the difficulty on Easy and use the Cheats to give yourself unlimited ammo. Conserving ammo during an intense firefight is not my idea of fun. Get yourself the shotgun and blast away! This also solves the problem trying to aim the cross-hair while running for your life! And those pesky face huggers! Ack! You'll need diapers when they attach themselves to your screaming face! This is a nice game. If you want a shooter that is almost as good as Quake II look no further. Just give yourself a fighting chance: tune the difficulty down and tune the violence up!

GOOD EXCITING Game with GOOD Graphics!!,

I loved this game! First of all, I loved all the Alien Movies because the Aliens are so scary! This game, was also equally scary! They recommend playng this game in the dark, and I did, and it freaked me out! I just got a Playstation, and this was my first game. This is a great, exciting game! I'm only in the beginning stages, and it is giving me goosebumps and I haven't even seen an alien yet! The ONLY reason why I didn't give this game 5 stars is because the controls for this game are really hard, and they take a long time to get used to, and that there are also guards and other people with guns you have to kill, which I think ruins the game a little because your supposed to be alone with only the aliens, so why are the people there? Anyways, other then that, the game is really good, and you should buy it! You will not be disappointed. :)

An Alien Fans Dream,
By A Customer
This review is from: Alien Resurrection (Video Game)
Alien Resurrection has to be my favorite Alien movie of the legacy and I was very pleased with the game. Sure, its a PS1 game but that doesn't change the fact that it is a great game. I think that the controls are great and very easy (unlike other reviewers). Many people have complained that using two analog sticks to move(one moves and strafes, the other looks)is tough but if you have ever played Max Payne on PS2, then I'm sure you'll get along just fine with these controls. As for the rest of the game, it is truely a masterpiece. The atmosphere is great and you actually feel that you are in the USM Auriga, traveling through the dark, seemingly abandoned tunnels, trying to escape the horrifying aliens that appear out of the shadows. There is no music (which adds suspense and panic), just the sounds of the creaky hull of the ship, Father: the super computers voice, and the breath of the nearby aliens. The sounds are actually recorded from the movie itself! The graphics are just the normal PS1 graphics you see in most PS1 games but they are just fine with me. The aliens can walk, jump, spit acid, communicate with eachother, and even crawl on walls and ceilings! And not only are there your standard aliens, but there are facehuggers that actually latch on to your face and put a chest burster in you that will explode from your chest after a while! Cool! And of course, as you've guessed, the alien queen and the newborn are in the game as well. This game is recommended to be played in the dark and it should be. It scares me to death in a good way in the dark and it makes you feel even more "in the game" in the dark. This is a must have game for any alien fan or just anyone who likes 1st person shooters. Go buy this game!! You won't be disappointed...

Interesting....,

I like the alien movies. The game was very interesting. It stayed true to the movies and was very scary. But I must say It was very hard for many reasons. Like the game says It is best played in the dark. It is very hard to see If you have any source of light in the background. The controls were somewhat awkward. And it takes alot of memory to save. Even the plot and the actions you have to do to complete each chapter were difficult. In the end I used the cheat for god mode and had some fun. But with out the cheat I probably would not have completed the game.

Fun, Scary, and very cool!,

This is a fun game. This game keeps close to the alien movies, and especially to the fourth one. While some gamers complain that the game has a lot of dead space, with no killing, I didn't find that to be the case. I did cheat and use the cheats codes to help me get through the game, especially with those little facehuggers lying around the floor waiting to get you. The facehuggers can be frustrating, but with the cheat on, you don't die. I like the alien genre and if you enjoy the genre as well, you too will enjoy this game. It is great when it is best played in the dark.

And you thought the movie was bad...,

Alien Ressurection the game, makes the movie of the same title look like an Oscar winning masterpiece (well, ok maybe not). The only reason it got two stars was for the awesome atmosphere and graphics that this game has to offer plus the level of geniune fear and suspense that it conjurs up. Now for the bad...nothing ever really happens in this game. At times, it is downright BORING. You wander around in the pitch black half the time waiting for something really bad to happen...but it never does. When I say this game is dark, I mean dark as in no light. You can't see half the time and the worthless flashlight that you have runs out of batteries every five minutes. The controls are sloppy and unnecessarily difficult. The weapons/ammo are limited and you really have to search for them in some of the later levels which makes the game seem contrived, like they added that feature only to make the game longer. Alien Trilogy was a much better game. Like the Alien movies, too many sequels makes for a predictable and downright boring ride.

Before I review this game I would like to give my thoughts on the film Alien Resuerrection my favorite was Aliens Ridley Scott's original film Alien was a masterpiece and Alien 3 is my 2nd favorite Alien is 3rd Alien Resuerrection is bottom of the list it's alright but just ain't as good as the previous 3 Alien vs Predator films are crap for God sakes make an Alien 5 & a Predator 3. The game is just slightly better than the movie but in levels 3,4, 6 & 8 it's got some glitches. doors won't open when I clearly turned the switch on. Controlls are fine if you use analog controllers it's like any other on PS1 PS2 or PS3 FPS. It Does follow Alien Resuerrection story pretty good. Destorying Alien eggs and destroying the Ripley clones and ultimately fighting the The Newborn. But the way you kill the Newborn is more like the 1st movie which I liked. I hope to review all 4 movies soon I'll also review Strider 2 and this game is cool and scary. FOX Interactive doesn't fully suck but yeah they have made bad games.
