Eye Candy 4000 is a set of plugins which has become essential if you do a lot of tutorials for graphics programs such as Paint Shop Pro, as it is used to create a lot of the special effects, especially the Jiggle for animal fur. However the other plugins in the set are equally worth looking at, I have always loved the Motion Trail plugin and the Corona and Flare plugins are also beautiful. These effects would not be easy to achieve with any graphics programme and are what makes Eye Candy such an essential part of any graphics designer's tools.

The interfaces are fairly simple in some of the plugins and more complex in others, with a Basic Effects screen and lighting screens to fiddle around with. Presets can be saved and backed up onto disk for future use should disaster strike, and the preview lets you edit the image live within the plugin in some cases such as Shadowlabs. In any case it updates automatically as you move the sliders so that you can see the final effect before you apply it.

The downside is the sheer cost of this plugin set at well over £100. However I think it's worth the money and I have had a great deal of use out of it over the years.

These are by far one of my top two favorite plug in packages. I use them for all sorts of stuff - the more you work with them, the more uses you will find them.

When I was new to web design and graphics, I picked this up so I could easily make buttons. The bevel tool is so easy to use! After I got comfortable using them I started messing around with customizing the colors and lighting and found several new novel uses for them.

These plug ins are great time savers - cutting my production time way down. They always work as promised, and are fast to render. It's a classic for good reason.
