I purchased this item assuming it was going to be a cheesy replica of the retractable spear in the AVP movie, but it turned out to be of a much higher quality, and the blades are very real (and very sharp). I used this spear as part of a Predator Halloween costume (from the recent "Predators" 2010 movie). I used hot glue to cover the blades (so as not to accidentally Shish-ka-bob any small "Trick-Or-Treat-ers". I highly recommend this retractable spear for adults, but it's definitely not for children. I gave this 5 stars, but if it retracted at both ends like the one in the AVP movie, it would get 11 stars! :-) Great product! It really helped add the right level of "danger" to my Predator costume!

I ordered this product as a birthday gift for my dad and he loves it. As the picture shows, the main handle black. The only thing that was found wrong or wished to be better is that it is designed so that only one end will extend/close up. As for the rest of it, it is completely made of metal and very sharp, so you need to be careful. all in all, a great buy with great quality and worth the price.
