Aliens Powerloader Die-Cast 1/12 Scale

Wow!!! I've been waiting for years for McFarlane or Neca to produce a 1/12 scale power loader to battle with my Movie Maniacs Alien Queen. Apparently neither company is in touch with their target audience.

This power loader seems to be fairly well constructed with the exception of the 2 antenna which break easily and are difficult to attach. I recommend styrene model glue. Also, the hoses are difficult to attach and don't stay put through active handling. One of the hose attachment points was missing on mine, but I suspect this was a fluke and it did not significantly compromise the sheer awesomeness of this toy.

Both the power loader and Ripley are highly articulated and made from quality plastics and die-cast components. The power loader is stunningly accurate down to the paint weathering around the feet.

There are only two serious complaints that I have about this piece. First: Ripley's face looks nothing like Sigourney Weaver. I assume the Japanese company had trouble getting permission to use her likeness, so she just looks like a generic Japanese woman. Secondly: The torn-in-half Bishop accessory is the wrong scale. He is closer to the 1/18th scale typical of G.I. Joe/Star Wars Figs (listen up customizers). I also would have liked to get the pulsee riffle and flamethrower that comes with the standard release, but I don't know that I would trade the Bishop for them. Either way, it's only a matter of time before one of the American companies produces a screen accurate Ripley with those weapons.

If you're thinking of purchasing this toy, watch one of the youtube reviews and it will probably push you over the edge. Honestly, this might be the crown jewel of my vast sci-fi toy collection.

P.S. If you're a parent shopping for a child, look elsewhere. The average kid would destroy this in a matter of minutes. I would recommend the Kenner Aliens/Predators line which you can still find on ebay for close to the original 1990's prices. However, it is a perfect gift for the teenage collector geek in your family.
