Book Description

June 1993
A serious look at the UFO encounter and Alien abduction phenomenon from an LDS viewpoint. See what Mormons are thinking about the New Age and the Occult.

What in the world is going on? A generation ago UFOs were thought to be either a fluke of human psychology or public glimpses of top-secret government research projects. Since then, millions worldwide have had UFO sightings. A Roper Organization survey indicates that seven percent of the adult U.S. population (12.95 million people), have seen a UFO, and over 3.5 million American adults may have been abducted by space visitors. A survey taken by the author shows that the same percentage of sightings has occurred among the Latter-day Saints. As improbably as this may seem, the “space brothers” appear to be methodically researching and re-engineering human beings. They also are implanting in the minds of millions a “message” that momentous changes to the planet are imminent—even at our doors.

In this work, James Thompson asks critical questions and analyzes the available data. The author first reviews what is possible, using the scriptures and statements of latter-day prophets as a guide, showing that human life exists throughout the universe on countless “probationary” planets like Earth.

He then traces the long history of the UFO enigma and alien encounters up through the present widespread “abduction” and “message” phase. He shows that thousands are being abducted, then sent on their way with a message for humanity—that the aliens are coming and bringing with them a new way of life.

Finally, he exposes the “aliens” to spiritual scrutiny for the first time. He shows that there is a real possibility that not all of the visitors are the scouts and explorers of distant societies, but are, in fact, the same beings that appear as angels of light, sent by their master, Satan, to deceive mankind.

Within the pages of this volume you will discover for yourself that the greatest mystery of our time will soon take on gargantuan proportions with vast “last days” implications. Ready or not, the “aliens” are coming—and all hell is about to break loose. This book is must reading for you!

The experience of Udo Wartena was brought to the world's attention in this book, and was presented to MUFON and in UFO Magazine.

More About the Author

I didn't consider writing as an avocation at first. However, there was the short story in college that the professor and class seemed to enjoy, and then there were the writing awards in law school and the invitation onto the law review. After years of editing the work of good writers, I found I had developed a good sense of how to present an idea in an interesting and entertaining manner. My first full book was one in which I brought a legal analysis to an otherwise unorthodox subject--UFO sightings and alien encounters. That was written for a religious audience. Two years later my publisher asked me to rewrite it, this time for a secular audience.

When the practice of law no longer held my interest, I transitioned into writing books for others--ghostwriting. I have been a ghostwriter for several years now, and am editor-in-chief at a ghostwriting firm, Scottsdale Multimedia, Inc. www.scottsdalemultimedia.com

We write several books each year for our clients, with content ranging from personal memoirs to scientific and medical treatises. I very much enjoy writing and supervising the writing of books for our clients, and learn a lot from the experiences of others.

I have recently begun writing a series on a subject that has intrigued me most of my life. In this series I deal with the big questions in life, set against the backdrop of the first humans who recorded their history. Although much of the material comes to us from religious sources (religious writings are the oldest after all), I have attempted to recreate that world in a likeness that anyone in today's world would recognize and understand. Indeed, from what we can surmise, there is little difference between the humans of 6,000 years ago and those of today . . . we face the same attitudes and challenges, and are surrounded by the same nature and vices. I hope you enjoy the series as soon as it is launched. We have set up an informational website at http://thebooksofenoch.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Having surveyed the evidence, this book's conclusion is compelling, July 3, 2005
This review is from: Aliens & UFOs: Messengers or Deceivers? (Hardcover)
Although this book is written from a specific LDS Christian veiwpoint, it takes a very broad view of the subject matter. I am fairly well read on the subject of UFOs, and the author cites many of the books I have read along with unique accounts from original sources, some of which are fascinating and shed new light on the subject. The book begins by laying a groundwork of what revealed scripture has to say concerning life on other planets. With this framework in mind, the author begins the journey into the contemporary body of work regarding UFO sightings, as well as the very creepy 'night abductions' which have been so well documented in books by Whitley Strieber, Bud Hopkins, et al. After all of the evidence has been surveyed, the author attempts to make some sense of it. Anybody who has read the literature will know that the UFO phenomenon simply does not fit into the scenario of 'spacemen' exploring our planet - There is a very spooky aspect which begs for some kind of alternate explanation. The author manages to provide this explanation with a mind-blowing conclusion. What makes this book so different from the other ones I have read on the subject is that the author uses the anchor of revealed religious truth to inform his conclusion. Other authors without similar underpinings can only report on the phenomenon without being able to make sense of the big picture. I have read this book several times and recommend it to anyone who wants to know what is going on with UFOs. Finally, let met add that anybody who thinks that the subject of UFOs is based on a hoax has their head burried in the sand, and they are welcome to whatever comfort that may provide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good, July 25, 2002

Very good theories, stories. I was quite disturbed about the one with the woman who has the continuous visitor -- I felt it could've been better explained why it keeps going on.

I was interested in reading this book mainly because I haven't seen anything out there that matched my belief in who and what the UFO's really are.

I was completly take in and blown away by this book. The stories are very interesting and the people are not the so called nut cases that many think are the kinds that see these things, some are pillars in their community and clergy.
I don't mind his relegious take on matters, I just think the most important thing is he is the most spot on person I have heard thus far on the subject of UFO's and he give good reason for us to believe in what he is trying to tell us. Anyone will and Should enjoy this book if they read it from cover to cover, not just skipped through it. Great Read could not put it down!

Loved it!
