Comic Collecting,
By
This review is from: Aliens Vs. Predator Omnibus Volume 2 (v. 2) (Paperback)
If you are collecting or just wanting to read the comic saga... this omnibus contains the "Deadliest of the Species" , Booty, Hell-Bent, Pursuit, Lefty's Revenge, Chained to Life & Death, and Xenogenesis.
Deadliest of the Species is about a girl who can't sleep and dreams about the past of fighting the predators & aliens. Booty is a one-shot special dealing with predators trying to capture an alien queen onboard a space station. Hell-Bent is about a predator who is facehugged and a crew member who must make a choice on living or not. Pursuit is about an android/hybird who is being hunted by the predators & marines. Lefty's Revenge is about a predator who befriends a human fighter and seeks revenge on her while fighting aliens. "Chained To Life & Death" is another story is about a predator whose thoughts are about life & death while fighting an alien. Xenogenesis is mostly about corporate espionage gone wrong when aliens & predators suddenly appear.

Nothing against the movie, but the comics are way better!! For the price of the comics individually, this is a great buy! I always thought movie company's did sketches of movie shots so they could get a better idea of how to film the movie. This comic definitely would have been better as a movie adaptation then what they made for as a movie. Enjoy!

I never read these comics when they were first released and I was quite pleased the stories. With over 450 pages per volume it is well worth the price. I don't know much about the upcomming AvP movie but I hope in the future they include the Marines to give the humans a fighting chance.

Deadliest of the Species,

This review is from: Aliens Vs. Predator Omnibus Volume 2 (v. 2) (Paperback)
This was the first ALIEN or PREDATOR comic i ever read, when it was first released. If i recall it came out in six issues. thats six months of waiting. and at the time, though i loved the story(Its so much more complex than either of the Franchises movies) I had a hard time following it. now being older and more mature, being able to read the entire story again was great. Because of this, storyline, i immediatlly sought out other predator and alien comics.. and now i cant wait to be re-introduced to the worlds through the omnibuses!

For its length, a disappointment,
By John S. Milas (Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Aliens Vs. Predator Omnibus Volume 2 (v. 2) (Paperback)
I havent written an amazon review for quiet some time, but I thought it'd be worthwhile to review AvP Omnibus 2. Though I haven't read them all, I own all of the Omnibus collections for Aliens and Predators. The ones I have read are entertaining, with the most consistently good one being AvP Volume 1. I was very dissapointed in Volume 2, to say the least.
Deadliest of the Species I expected this to be a grand epic that'd keep my attention and rival the first three Aliens graphic novels in scope. While it does seem to take place on the same timeline as those stories, it is unrelated of course, but it is almost an AvP story in title alone, which is absurd. I think I can probably count on one hand the amount of times Aliens atually appear in real life and not some kind of dream. Likewise, the Predator appearances are few and far between with the rest of the story ending up being a strange soap opera that I know none of us really want. The end brings these strange creatures in. I don't know if anyone had the Hive Wars Kenner figures at all, but the Predator that was white and had a long head is basically in DotS at the end. The bottom line is, the story really makes no sense once we get about halfway through. For the story's length, there are hardly any characters and most of the time spent is just dwelling on nothing that any AvP fan cares about. Unfortunately, my opinion of these story alone is a huge factor in how I rate the book overall because it's a collection of 12 issues! Yeah, it takes up most of the length of the book and is one of the most miserable experiences you could put yourself through. 0/5 Booty This is a one shot about some space pirates if I'm not mistaken. Honestly, a lot of the one-shots don't stay with me too well and I haven't read this in a while, but I remember being really confused by the plot. Some stories need more time to unfold, and this is one that could benefit from more length. 2/5 Hell-Bent, Pursuit, Lefty's Revenge, and Chained to Life and Death If anyone bought the AvP DVD that was Unrated and released some time after the movie's theatrical release, it came with a small comic that contained these stories. They're all one-shots that are extremely short, which is a dirty shame because they're all the best part of Volume 2. Yes, their plots are bite sized and simplistic, but more length would've turned these small gems into masterpieces. The worst part is you're done reading them before you know you started. I rate them all together because of their lengths. 5/5 Xenogenesis I have not yet read Aliens or Predator Xenogenesis, and I'm not sure which came first, but this story is fairly decent. I believe there are some asterisk points which allude to Predator Xenogenesis, but it didn't really affect my understanding of the story. The story in itself starts out and you sort of think there's going to be more, but there isn't. It's a really simplistic thing that could probably be the length of one of the other four one-shots in this volume, but it's drawn out. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because the artwork is so interesting and different in a modern way. The story is just not as satisfying as I thought it would be when I flipped through it before reading. 3/5 If you add my scores up you'll get a 10/20 which isn't a very good average. I'm not rating this a 2 based on that average, but based on the value of the entire collection and a large portion focused on DotS which is a very poor excuse for an AvP tale. I recommend this only to those collecting the Omnibuses and who are hardcore AvP fans. I recommend this volume to hardcore Alien/Predator fans.

Avoid until issues are addressed,

As much as I love the Comics, until Dark Horse addresses the issue with their faulty adhesive bindings I would avoid them. So far, I have gone through two and always the same issue. The cheap glue comes loose and the book falls completely apart. Maybe it's because of bad shipping and the glue becomes heated and comes loose, either way it's too consistent to be considered an isolated thing.

The shipper sent, and I recieved within two days (which considering that I requested standard shipping is pretty impressive.) As for the book its self... Its not as good as the first volume but not bad either. I m giving the book 4 stars, and the shipper I would give 5.
